THIRTY years ago this Spring we purchased our first baby
chicks, and since that time we havebeen in the poultry business con-
chicks, and since that time we have been in the poultry business con-
proud. We have made a study of culling and selection for egg pro-
duction and meat type, and when you purchase your chicks you get
the benefit of our experience. All the parent stock is blood-tested
annually.
This year we offer you the following in Baby Chicks:

SINIJLIEF
By Harry J. Boyle
We had a storm last week and one
the week before. They were real old
timers as far as action was concerned.
I was coming in from the barn on
Wednesday night when the snow
started coming down. It was really
late afternoon but the snow came on
so fast and furious that it would almost
make you believe that it was night,
By the time I was half way up the
lane you could hardly see the house.
As my grandfather would say, "It's
going to be a night when you thank
the good Lord for making you cut
that beech up into stove lengths."-
ter supper we filled the old heater up
in the front room and just relaxed into
chairs. It was a mistake in some ways
because I woke up after a cat-nap that
had stretched into thirtz-minutes to
the realization that the chores weren't
all done.
Some men say they can jump up af-
ter a sleep like that completely relaxed
and start into working with a new zip-
piness. I can't. It takes ,me about an
hour to switch out of law gear into
high gear. The snow was still coming
down but it seemed undecided as to
whether it wanted to be sleet or hail
or snow or a combination of all three.
There was a gale blowing and it had
drifted so badly I couldn't get the
barnyard gite open. The mikkhouse
was completely lost 'under a drift Of
snow.
The lantern blew out. I guess the
glass wasn't fitting tight enough or
something. Then I really was up
against it and mind you I was in the
confines of the barnyard. In places
that snow was waist deep and after
wallowing around in it a few times I
lost my sense of direction completely.
You couldn't see the lights in the
house at all.
Finally I hit the end of the sheep
pen and struck out in what I consid-
ered to be a straight line for the stable
door, had ,completely forgotten
about the sleigh that was out in the
barnyard. Bang! My shin took a
whack at it., By the time I had gotten
around the sleigh I had lost my sense
of direction all over again.
The wind seemed to ease up a bit
and I stood still, Old Sir Timothy,
our aristocratic bull bellowed out in
full force and I was saved, I headed
straight for the stable and managed to

time last year announcing a 4,000,000

We attribute these very gratifying fig-

important feature of its advertising has

Winghams play-off hopes appeared
somewhat gloomy Friday evening
when the Palmerston Sextette trounc-
ed the Stainton Wear Wells 10-6, in a
Intermediate OHA contest, Practical-
ly on even trems for two periodS, the
third period proved disastrous, when
the visitors rammed five goals past
concrete and from that lit a cedar stick
with which the lantern was rekindled.
I would have spent the night in the
stable rather than tackle going out in
the storm again. .. , even up the lane-
make it, only to discover I didn't have
any matches. I was desperate. The
head ofa match turned up in my sweat-
er coat pocket and with knees shaking
I managed to light a little pile of straw
in the centre of the stable floor on the way. Specializing in
