UNCLE JOHNi"
it is Bobby's tenth birthday ... Uncle
John has sent him a cheque. His
father explains how Bobby can go to
the bank and get cash that very day!} .....
, When you make out a cheque, you give an order to your
bank to pay the amount specified to the person named.
If he lives on h t—e next street, or thousands of miles away,
he can take your cheque to his local bank and get the money.
He cannot get it without a receipt—his signature on the
back of the cheque. If yours is a Current Account, your cheque
comes back at the end of the month, and so you have a per-
manent record and receipt of the payment.
The enormous convenience of the chequing iyptem is just
one of the many services provided by your bank . • for you.

Ontario; Quebec Jointly
Develop New Power Sites
Premier Drew announced Monday'
night that an agreement has been rea-
ched with Premier Duplesis of Quebec.
for the joint development by the two
provinces of new power sites at Chen-
aus and Cave Rapids on the Ottawa
River. Approyimately 200,000 horse-
power will accrue from these two sites,
The agreement calls for each prov-
ince to employ it own workmen on
their respective sides of the river. The
actual construction and development
will be under the direction of the Hy-
dro-Electric Power Commission of
Ontario in continuing consultation with
the Quebec Commission.
All power developed will be avail-
able at first to Ontario, but at such
times as Quebec requires its share,
that province will have the right to
draw one-half of the power and at the
same time assume half of the capital
cost. No indication of the probable
cost was given by Mr. Drew.
Took a Stroll
A henpecked husband reached the
end of his patiencs and, after a final
row with his wife, took his bowler hat
from the peg in the hall and said, "Pm
going,"
Three years later he returned and
his wife demanded, "Where on earth
have you been?"
"Out," he replied, and hung his hat
on the same peg.
