The Council met on January 13th in
the Township Hall, with all members
president. The Reeve presided.
The minutes of the last meeting
were read and adopted on motion of
Chas. Coultes and Sam Alcock, -
Moved by Chas. Coultes, seconded
by Jos. Yuill, that a letter be sent to
Dept. of Planning and Development
recommending that the grant portion
of the Community Hall Account cov-
ering the construction of community
halls be changed to include skating
rinks. Carried.
Moved by Harvey Johnstonesecond-
ed by Chas. Coultes that the Reeve and
Road Superintendent attend the On-
tario Good Roads Association Conven-
tion and that the membership fee be
paid. Carried.

Scoring three goals in the last period
to cinch the game on Friday evening,
the Stainton Spitfires defeated the
Chesley Juveniles 5-4 at the Wing-
ham Arena, Tommy Lockridge on a
pass from Ashton put the game on ice
at the 11.02 mark, three minutes after
Loughlean had tied the score four all.
A large crowd was on hand to watch
the opener here for the Juveniles, with
Mayor Duncan Kennedy officially op.
ening the season. Highlight of the ev-
ening was figure skating numbers by
three members of the Chesley Skating
Club, between periods and after the
game, which proved popular with the
fans,
Scoring ace for Wingham was Wil-
fred Sell with two goals, while for
Chesley Hainmond dented the twine
twice. Fourteen-year-old Billie Krug
between the posts for the visitors, was
sensational, and handled the puck like
an old-timer, Only one penalty was
handed out by Referee Art Redmond
of Chesley.

In an Intermediate 13, O.H.A. fix-
ture here Wednesday evening, Mount
Forest trounced the Wingham Stainton
Wear-Wells 6-2 before the largest
crowd of the season. Soft ice prevent-
ed what would have been a closely
contested struggle, Mount Forest
clinched the game in the second period
when four goals were fired past. Mc- I
Leod in the local net. The visitors
strengthened by the use of McGirr and
goal minder Watt from the Durham
Club, which has disbanded, iced a very
strong club and a tight defence, lvfors
gan and Ingoldsby in front of Watt,
saved the day for Mount Forest on
several occasions. Although the game
was clean throughout, ten penalties
were handed out by Referee Stan,
Smith of Stratford, for minor offences.

opted, The Secretary 'took over the

chairman for 1947, There was just the
one nomination, that of I. J, Wright,
