Chrisftnas Party Erijoyed
United Church School room with ar-
tistic decorations in keeping with the
season completed by a lovely Christ-
mas Tree. was the scene of a happy
Christmas Party on Monday, the 23rd.,
when the officers, teachers and pupils
held their annual get-to-gether with
parents and friends as guests, Mr.
Alvin Moffat was Chairman and from
the welcome song Santa Claus is com-
ing tonight, to the play given by the
Senior Classes, the programme was in-
teresting. Recitations, Songs, Dialog-
ues were given by the different class-
es. Refreshments were served. Then
Santa arrived and delighted the child-
ren with treats and gifts.
Donations Welocemed
The first week in January, a bale of
New and Second Hand Clothing will
be shipped to Fort Stewart, Ontario,
to be distributed among needy famil-
ies there. If members of the Women's
Institute or anyone in the Community
has any warm clothing to spare, will
you please donate it to the bale. It
will make sonic needy person com-
fortable for the cold winter months,
A church group in that isolated post
will remake any garments and take
charge of the distribution. School child-
ren's clothes will be especially wel-
come. Please get in touch with presi-
dent of W. I., Mrs. H. V. McKenney,
or Secretary, Mrs, W. T. Maclean.
Women's Institute
The January meeting of the Wom-
en's Institute will be held on the even-
ing of January 2nd., at 8 p.m., and will
take the form of a family social. In
keeping with the arranged Burns Night
the motto is,
Let fortune's gift at random flee, •
They ne'ershall .draw a wish frae me.
Roll Cali—A Good Scotch Joke.

U. Church Christmas Service
There was a large attendance at the
Wroxeter United Church for Christ-
mas Service on Sunday morning with
Rev. J. L. Foster in charge, who spoke
from the text, Fear not, for I bring
you tidings of great joy. The choir
under the direction of Mr. G. A. Wear-
ring with Miss Mary Gibson, sang two
anthems in keepinglwith the .season,
St. James Service
Canon Wallace of London, was the
guest preacher for the St. James An-
glican Christmas Service held on Sun-
day evening. The rector, Rev. James
Caley was in charge and the local
choir was assisted by Trinity Church
Choir of Fordwich with Miss Elva
Foster as Organist.
OBITUARY
Early Sunday morning, December
22nd,, there entered into rest a lifelong
citizen of Fordwich 'and the sixth line,
Howick, in the person of the late
William ',Hamilton, in his 70th year,
Mr. Hamilton appeared to be in his
usual health and on Saturday had been
in the village. On Sunday forenoon he
was found by Fred Sharpin, who re-
sided with him, his death was attribut-
ed to a heart attack,
Wm. J. Hamilton was the only son
of the late Win, and Mrs. Hamilton.
He was a member of the Presbyterian
and later United Church, his father
having presented the lot, laid the cor-
ner stone and presented a bible to the
former Presbyterian and now United
Church at Fordwich, His wife, the
former Lorinda Wade, predeceased
him four years ago. Mr, Hamilton is
survived by a son, Harold of Wrox-
eter, a daughter, (Alta), Mrs. Herman
Nethery of Belgrave, to whom the
sympathy of neighbours and friends is
extended.
Funeral services were conducted by
Rev, Mr. Miner of Pordwich United
Church, on Tuesday, December 24th.,
Interment was made in the family plot
at Vordwich cemetery, Pallbearers

Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Cathers and
granddaughter, Mary Copeland, spent
a few days with friends in, Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Dane and son,
Edgar,spent Sunday ' evening with
friends in Wroxeter,
The concert which was held in
Lane's School last week was well at-
tended andthe scholars did their parts
well. Teacher and pupils are to be
congratulated. •
Mrs, Wni, Gallagher of Wroxeter,
has come to spend the winter with her
son, Mr, Stanley Gallagher and Mrs.
Gallabgher.
Erla, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Newton is at present in the Wingham
General Hospital, hairing undergone
an operation for appendicitis. We hope
she will soon be alright again.
