Wedding Bells are ringing,
Miss Jessie Gillespie left on Thurs-
day to spend the holiday week with
relatives in Toronto.
A splendid concert was presented
byS . S. No, 9, Kinloss, Mr. Mac Mac-
Gregor, teacher, in charge, on Tuesday
evening in the Cominunity Hall here,
and with Mr. Russell Gaunt as Chair-
man. The dialogues, drills and chor-
uses were enjoyed by all, especially
the presentation of the Christmas Story
of the Babe in the Manger, the Angels,
Wise Men and 'Shepherds. Mr. David
Carruthers, the new Councillor, was
present and spoke briefly, and ReV. G.
M. Newton also gave a short address,
Mr. Jas, ,McIntosh moved a vote of
thanks to the teiacher and pupils, Tif-
fin's orchestra provided music for the
dance which followed.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes are en-
tertaining his parents, IMr. and Mrs.
George Coultes and their family for
Christmas.
Quite a number from here will at-
tend the Farrier-Higgins Nuptials in
Belgrave-United Church, at 2 p.m. on
Thursday next.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gillespie and
Donna May, of Mimico, will spend the
Christmas holidays with their parents
here,
The people of this community will

Greetings
from the, smallest pupils to the Senior's
all excelled themselves. Outstanding
was the piano numbers and a girls'
Drill, Alice Blue Gown. Santa Claus
arrived arid distributed treats and
gifts to the children. Principal Ham-
ilton and Mrs. Wearring, teachers, are
to be congratulated on the success of
the concert, the proceeds of which will
be turned over to the Red Cross,

Miss Frances Wylie of Toronto
Normal School, is spending the holi-
days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. H. Wylie.
Friends here learned with regret of
the death of Mr, Ivan Harris of Ford-
wich. Son of the late Charles Harris
and Nancy Jacques, he had been in
poor health for sonic time, but able to
he around. On Saturday evening he
Suffered a heart attack and was taken
to Listowel Memorial Hospital, where
he died ,..on Tuesday morning. Sur-
viving are two brothers, Carl of Col-
onsky, Sask., and Arthur of Toronto.
Funeral services were held at the Ir-
win Funeral Home on Friday after-
noon. Rev, Edwards of Listowel Bap-
tist Church and Rev, James Caley, of
St. Stephens Church, officiating and
was under the auspices of Masonic
Lodge. Interment was made in the
Fordwich cemetery,
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hamilton,
spent Christmas in Toronto, guests of
the latter's sister,' Mrs. Mitchell.
Lanes School held Dheir annual
Christmas Eentertainment on Friday
evening.
Miss Helen Sawtell was one of the
artists who broadcast over CKNX on
Thursday night. Miss Sawtell played
a piano solo and also accompanied
Miss Lois Whitney in- vocal solos.
Born—To Mr. and Mrs. Maurice H.
Seim, (nee Elva Stocks), 333 Suther-
land Drive, Leaside, a son, Donald
Kenneth, on Wednesday, Dec. 18th.,
1946, at the Toronto East General
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Maclean and
Mr. Jack Maclean spent Christmas
with friends at Palmerston. ,
S. No. 2 Turnberry Concert
The School house at No. 2 Turn-
berry, was aglow with an attractive
Christmas decoration including a love-
ly Tree, when on Wednesday of last
week, the annual concert was held.
From the opening chorus, "We're very
glad," the programme was of a high
standard and very entertaining. Recit-
ations, Monologues, Dialogues, Songs,
Outstanding were three dances, Daisy
Dell, Doll Dance, by the primary pup-
ils, Highland Fling and Dutch Dance
in costume also The Christmas Story,
depicting the Shepherds in the fields,
Mary, the Christ Child in the Man-
ger, the Angels, with the. Christmas
Carols. Adding beauty to the pageant
a Chorus, Jolly Old Fellow was a sig-
nal for the arrival of Santa Claus, who
delighted the children with treats and
gifts. Mr. James Elliott, who was
chairman expressed appreciation of all
present to the teacher, Miss Viola
Thacker, and Miss MacDonald, Music
Teacher for their effort's in preparing
such a splendid concert. Refreshments
were served and dancing enjoyed.

Repeat Concert For Shut-In
The teacher of S. S. No. 2, Tuil-
berry and pupils manifest a true
Christmas spirit when on Friday after
noon the closing day of school, they
gathered at the home of Miss Mary
MacNaughton, who is recovering from
a recent operation and for her pleasure
repeated as far as possible the concert
given at the school on Wednesday ev-
ening, Mary graduated from S. S. No.
2, the past year.
St. James Christmas Party
The basement of St. James Anglican
Church was the scene of a Happy
gathering Monday evening last, when
the congregation and their friends 11,.
held their annual Annual Christmas
Party. Colorful Christmas 'decorations
including a lovely tree did not exceed
the warm hospitality shown the visit-
ing friends. Rev. James Caley was
chairman and with Mrs. Caley at the
organ lead in Christmas Carols. The
Rector then spoke briefly on the mean-
ing of Christmas, bringing. out "three
thoughts, The Coming of the Christ
Child in the family life, Christ the
prince of peace bringing healing to the
Nations, Recitations and songs by the
children were enjoyed, Mrs. H. Ham-
ilton and Mrs, D. S. MacNaughton
favored with a duet, There's a Song in
the Air; Billy Hart sang a solo, Mrs.
Lawrence told the children of English
and Irish customs at the Christmas
season. Santa Claus arrived and de-
lighted all with his good humor and
found on the tree gifts for everyone,
the compliments of the Women's
Guild, Games were enjoyed and re-
freshments completed one of the love-
liest parties of the Christmas Season.
Mrs, H. V, MacKenney president of
the Guild graciously welcomed all to
the party. Mr. H. Hamilton moved a
vote of thanks from the visitors which
Was heartily seconded by Mrs, Mac-
Naughton,

Miss Olive Terriff, R. N., who has
been in Toronto for the past few weeks
returned home on Thursday,
Mr. B. Groskorth is driving a new
car this week:-
Mr. RusSell -.Pardon moved Mr. Fal-
coner's. caterpillar tractor from the
East Wawanosh bush lots, where lie
had been working to the Emerson bush
in W. Wawanosh.
Mr. F. McK. Paterson is spending
the Christmas holiday with relatives in
Toronto.
A splendid concert was held in the
Presbyterian Church here on Friday
evening, presented by the Sunday
Schools of the two churches. Rev. G.
M. Newton was chairman, the Christ-
mas Carols, recitations and the dialo-
logue, Farmer Brown's Christmas,
were enjoyed 'by all, Rev, Mr. Suth-
erland spoke briefly, thanking those
who had made the concert a success.
Santa duly appeared again. leaving the
children happy for another time.
Miss Winnifred Farrier of Toronto,
and Mr, Carman Farrier of New Tor-
onto, are spending their holidays with
their parents, Mr, and Mrs. W. R,
Farrier.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ragsdale of
London, are spending the week-end
With her father, Mr. Robt. Carrick.
Miss Louise Martin of Kincardine,
and Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Simmons
of London,spent Christman with their
parents, Mr, and Mrs. Chas. Martin,
Miss Florence Beecroft spent Christ-
mas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs,
J, D. Beecroft.
This community extends sympathy
to the brothers and sister of the late
Wilfred Blake Gaunt, who passed away
in Wingham Hospital on Friday morn-
ing, following a short illness with flu,
affecting, his heart,

a bale will be packed following the
next Institute meeting on January 2nd.

W,I, have sent a bale of clothing and
on several occasions a cash donation
to this-place, If any member or any-
one in the Community have a garment
or more to spare it will be appreciated
by the folks there, A church group
will remake or do any sewing needed
and distribute the gifts to those most
