Electors at the TOWNSHIP HALL, GORRIE, in the said Town-

Hart presided, Evelyn Anger was at
the piano and Secretary Jimmie Wylie
presented the. n1/flutes, The meeting
opened with quiet music and repeating
of the purpose and hymn. The very
young members presented the letters
of their name supported by others
who read a verse of scripture begin-
ning with each letter. iMrs. Munroe
led in prayer., Ronald Higgins. sang a
solo, Mrs. L. Douglas read the Scrip-
ture lesson, Slides on India were
shown and the story of an Indian 'boy
told by Mrs. G. Howes. Winnifred
Munroe gave a recitation and Marilyn
Maclean sang. A play, The Good Sam-
aritan was put on by a group of boys
with Mrs, Ira Maclean reading the
scripture story. Mrs. Hamilton and
Mrs. MacNaughton favored with a
duet. Mrs, Munroe expressed the ap-
preciation of the guests. Mrs. Maclean.
replied telling that Wroxeter had the
largest Baby Band in this part or the
Presbyterial, Mrs. Maclean, Mrs, Wm.
Wright cold Mrs. Les, Douglas are the
leaders. Members of the Mission Band
served refreshments and a social hour
was enjoyed.
WoMen's Institute
Meeting on November 14th, at 220
p.m. At the going down of the sun and
in the morning we shall remember

The November meeting of the Wro-
xeter Missionary Society was held in
the church parlours on Friday, Nov.
8th. Miss Hazelwood and Mrs. Ham-
ilton were in charge of the programme
alohg the theme of Remembrance.
Miss Hazelwood opened the meeting
with quiet music. Mrs.,,Munro pre-
sided and led in prayer. The Hymn,
"0 Valiant Hearts" was sung followed
by Responsive Reading of Psalm 718
in the Hymnary. Mrs. Lovell chose
for the Scripture lesson psalm 146,
followed by prayer by Mrs. Munro.
The Roll Call was answered by a Re-
inembrance verse. The minutes of the
previous meeting were read and ap-
proved. Our Thank Offering Service
will be held on November 17 at 11 a.
in. with Rev. E. S. Miner of Fordwich
as guest speaker. "Happy the Home
when God is There", was then sung.
Mrs. McLean then gave us an interest-
ing report on the Sectional meeting
held at Whitechurch. The highlight
of this meeting was Mrs. White's ad-
dress in which she stressed, "We must
find leader for our Young People."
Mrs. McLean told how proud she was
to give our Mission Band Report as it
was above the average of any of the
large places.
Mrs. McCutcheon sang "Somebody
Cares" after which Mrs. Hamilton
gave a synopsis of the Missionary
Monthly showing us shy we should
read it from cover to cover. Miss Haz-
elwood followed with some "Facts on
India". The meeting closed by sing-
ing "Thou Gracious God", followed by
the Benediction.
Y.P.U.
The Young People's Union met on
Monday evening, November 4th., Miss
Helen Sawtell presided. The meeting
opened with quiet music with Margaret
Wearring at the piano. A hynin was
sung followed by poem by Helen Saw-
tell. Allen Cooper read the Scripture
Lesson and prayer was given by Jean

was dealt with and it was decided to
have a Social at the next meeting. A

BLUEVALE
Remembrance Day Service Observed
At the Remembrance Day service in
Bluevale United Church, honor was
paid to the heroes of the first and se-
cond World Wars, -and on Honour
Roll was dedicated to those from the
church who had enlisted in World
War II. Rev. A. H. Hewitt spoke
feelingly about the great memorials of
the world temples, cenotaphs and
world-famous monuments. Their er-
ection was symbolical of the sentiment,
reveredree and humble gratitude of the
people towards their soldiers and stat-
esmen, He paid a sincere and moving
tribute to the young men from Blue-
vale United Church who paid the sup-
reme sacrifice in the recent war; Pilot
Officer Russel Barnard, Lance Corp-
oral Joseph Nicholson, Warrant Offi-
cer John Wettlaufer.

after which the Minister read the foil,

The president, Pleming Johnston,
presided at the Y.P.U. meeting on Fri-
day evening in the United Church.
Following the reading of the minutes
and some routine business, Miss Dor-
othy Fraser was added to the execu-
tive. Rev, A, K Hewitt brought to
the minds of the young people the im-
portance of the official church paper,
"The Observer", he also spoke of the
Y.P.U, crest. A poem was read by
Scott McLennan and the topic, "Indi-
vidual Loyalty to Self" was taken by
Mrs. Jim Johnston. Prayer was offer-
ed by Rev, A, H. Hewitt.
United Church W. M. S.
The VV,M.S, of the United Church'
met at the home of Mrs. J. Curtis this
month, the president, Mrs, Alex. Mc-
Crackin read the scripture and led in
prayer. The roll call was answered by
a verse beginning with the letter "N".
The secretary, Mrs. Edward Johnston,
read a number of resolutions passed
at the London Conference branch re-
lating to the liquor traffic, the Japan-
ese question, Sabbath observance, rac-
ial• discrimination, peace conference and
others.
Reports of the sectional meeting of
the VV,M.S. held at Whitechurch were
read by Mrs, M. L. Aitken and Miss
Emma Johnston. Miss Johnston had
charge of the worship service, Mrs,
McCrackin and Mrs. A, H. , Hewitt
sang an Indian hymn, Miss Margaret
Curtiss detailed the chapter from the
study book on India, "Man with the
Wooden Plough" describing life in ru-
ral India and how missions have help-
ed the country. Mrs. S. Darling and
Mrs, R. Shaw gave reading to illus-
trate the theme.
A short business meeting of the Wo-
man's Association was held previous to
the meeting of the W.M.S.
Dr. Arthur and Mrs. Shaw,, Toronto,
were Sunday visitors with the doctor's
mother, Mrs, Arthur Shaw, who re-
cently celebrated her 84th birthday,
Among those who were in the vil-
lage to attend the special' service at the
United Church on Sunday were Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Barnard, Shirley and
Donald of Ripley, and Mr. and Mrs.
Percy King and son of Wingham,
Mrs, P. S. McEwen spent a day re-
cently with Mr, and Mrs. Harold Law-
son at Clinton,
Miss Edyth Garniss spent Thursday
with her sister, Mrs. Burns Moffatt.
Miss Helen Thomson, Sarnia, and
George Thomson, London„were holi-
day visitors with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. George T. Thomson.
Spence' McKinnon spent the week-
end with his parents, Mr, and Mrs, R,
H. McKinnon,
Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Nichol attended
the funeral of their uncle, the late Pet-
er McIntosh at Kincardine this week.
Mr. and Mrs, George Fischer were
in Galt on Saturday attending the wed-
ding of James Prichard. Mr. Prichard
is well known to many here, having
been employed by Thomas Shearer
previous to going into the service,
Mrs. Kerney, Mr. and Mrs. J.
Smith, Wilmer and Mac, also Gordon
Messer spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. William Kerney at Walton.
Miss Dorothy Aitken, Preston, was
a holiday guest with her mother, Mrs.
M. L, Aitken.
Mr. and Mrs. Verdon Mowbray and
three sons of Lucknow, spent Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaw.
Presbyterian Church
Rev. Leland C. Jorgensen conducted
tht service at Knox Presbyterian
Church on Sunday. He. used "God"
as his subject. Who is God. Using
the answer given in the shorter cate-
chism, God is a spirit, infinite, eternal
and unchangeable in his being, wis-
dom, power, .holiness, justice, goodness
and truth. The choir sang "The Way
of the Cross Leads Home",

FARM FORUM
Held their meeting on Monday
night at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ross King, with an attendance of 32.
The topic for discussion was "What
About .Farm Home Improvements?"
The first question asked was "What
are the main obstacles to Farm Home
Improvement? 'All groups thought in-
sufficient income shortage of materials,
shortage of help and time were the
main obstacles, .The second question
was "How could your Farm Forum
promote Farm Home Improvement in
your Community?" We agreed that co-
operative use of paint spraying equip-
ment would be helpful, also cornpeti-
tions in farm home improvement. Fol-
lowing the discussion progressive eu-
chre was played with high prize for
ladies going to Mrs, Lorne McAllis-
ter, -low to Bob McKague (who played
as a lady), high for men to Ken Mc-
Kague and low to Peter McKague.
