Mr. and Mrs. Young and family, of Owen Sound, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Wellington on Sunday. Mr, and Mrs. Hugh Switzer and family spent Wednesday with Mount Forest friends. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nay, Fordwich were Sunday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hector Hamilton and Mrs, Ham- ilton. The plate glass window in Dr, Armstrong's Drug Store was broken by the wind during the storm early Friday morning. Bobbie Steurnol, youngest son of Mr. Nelson Steurnol, con. 13, had the misfortune td break his wrist while playing at school on Wednesday of last reek. Mr. Alex Edgar has returned from Listowel Hospital, and is at, present at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wel- lesley Strong, Special Services in United Church, beginning on Tuesday night, Nov. 5th, special meetings will be held in the United Church, few days recently with her parents, On November 5th., Rev. Taylor over the week-end, Mr. and Mrs. Kelland Coulter of Fort William, were guests on Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Holmes. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Short, Ron- ald and Carol of Fergus, were week- end visitors with relatives here. Misses Erland Gregg and Joyce Thornton, accompanied by Miss Flora word of his safe arrival there. Norman attended Public School at Gorrie, where his father, ,Rev. F. Craig, was pastor of Gorrie United Church,. They are now residing in Peterboro, ANGLICAN W. A. Mrs. John Dinsmore opened her home for a meeting of St. Stephen's Women's Auxiliary on Thursday af- ternoon. The ladies worked at piecing quilts. The devotional service was led by tits President, Mrs. H. V. Holmes who opened it with the Auxiliary pray- er. Mrs. Armstrong read the Scrip- ture lesson. Roll call was answered with a verse containing the word "seek", Rev. J. C, Caley then spoke of the many verses to be found in the Bible in which seek is the theme, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall he added unto you" is found in both .Matthew and Lulce. We must seek God, not once, but perpetually.. He, too, seeks us. Meeting closed with prayer and a delicious lunch was serv- ed by the hostess. We extend congratulations and best wishes to three of our oldest residents who will celebrate birthdays this week: On November 1st Mr, Chas. Irwin will be 92. He drives into town quite reg- ularly with his horse and buggy. On November 2nd Mrs, Mirran Anger will be 86, She is also a very active person for her years' On November 3rd Dr. Armstrong will be 95. He is in his drug store every day. Mrs. Clara Ritchie is visiting rela- tives in Newburg. The funeral of Phillip George Arch- er of Wroxeter, was held on Wednes-• day afternoon from M. D. Irvin's Fun- eral Home. Deceased was in his 36th year. Service was conducted by Rev. J. C. Caley. Interment was in Gorrie Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Anger, and two young children. LOCAL AND PERSONAL ..Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Beecroft are spending a few days in Kingston, Mr. Robert VanNorman, of Ham- iota Man,, visited' with relatives in town last 'week. Mr. Glenn Salisbury of Belleville is is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. L. A. MacDougal, Mrs, Walter VanWyck is spending a few days in Oshawa with her sister, Mrs. McLeod. Rev. and Mrs. L. H. Currie of Mea- ford, were guests over the week-end of Mr. and- Mrs. Peter Gowans. Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Gibson and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. 'Ziegler of Guelph, spent the 'week-end with friends in Wing- ham, Mr. T. A. Currie of the Western Foundry returned home this week after a month's business trip to the West Coast. Rev, and lAfrs. Wm, Sutherland of Marion Bridge, Cape Breton, were week-end guests of Rev, and Mrs.: A. Nimmo. On Sunday Rev. Sutherland preached at Gorrie and Molesworth. Mr. and 'Mrs. James Holloway left last week for their home in Glen Cove, N. Y., after spending several weeks with relatives here. While in Wing- ham Mrs. Holloway suffered a broken wrist. and was removed to Winghatn General Hospital. She expresses her appreciation for the kindness of doc- tors and nurses while there.
