Women's Institute
The president of the Women's. Insti-
tute, Mrs. J. H, Smith, opened her
home this week for the regular which,
she presided over. The opening insti-
tute ode was sting with. Mrs. Carl
Johnston at the piano, and all joined
in repeating the Lord's prayer.
The correspondence provided mat-
eriat for much discussion, It was de-
cided to make application for•the Gov-
ernment grant of $3.00 to assist in ed-
ucational projects which afe being
planned. Posters for the 50th anni-
versary with the theme "We cherish
the past, we face the future" were con-
sidered. Miss Olive' Scott was named
delegate to attend the area convention
to be held at Guelph on November 7th
and 8th. Stewart Scott of Wingham,
representing a health and accident in-
surance cothpany, gave an explanatory
talk on hospitalization ' and .surgical
benefits under an insurance plan. The
society decided to form a group for
the. Blue Cross plan, which •has been
under study and discussion for several
weeks. Mrs. M. Aitken was elect-
ed group leader. "My obligation to
the community was the roll call re-
sponse.

Bazaar Very SucCessful
The bazaar sponsored by the Ladies'
Aid Society of Knox Presbyterian
Church held in the community .hall
was crowned with success. Promptly
at 3 o'clock, the president, Mrs. Burns
Moffatt proclaimed the bazaar open
Keen interest Was shown and buying
was brisk, home made baking, fruit,
vegetables, farp. produce, flowers, ap-
rons and miscellaneous articles were
soon disposed of, The proceeds am-
ounted to over $145.00. Tea was ser-
ved which added to the social part of
the proceedings.

The Y. P. U. of the United Church
met in the Sunday school room on Fri-
