OBITUARY
Frederick M. Hogg
The death occurred on Monday,
Sept, 23rd, in the Wingham General
Hospital of Mr, Frederick M. Hogg,
who passed away after a short illness.
Mr. Hogg was born 60 years ago in
Turnberry and has farmed there all
his life, and was married to Mary
Wheeler in Wingham in 1913, He was
a member of the St. Pours. Anglican
Church and the L. 0., L., He is sur-
vived by his wife, one son, Wilbur, one
daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Grace) Lucas
of Lucan; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas
(Alba) Ellis;; Brussels; Mrs. Clifford
(Lillian) Bartlett, Mitchell; ,Mrs. Win.
(Effie) Watson of Mitchell, and two
brothers, Percy of Wingham, and Rob-
bert of Turnberry, One daughter,
Freda, predeceased him in 1921 and a
son, Harold, in 1928.
The funeral service is being held
today (Wednesday) Sept. 25th at 2 p.
m. from 'his late residence, Lot 13, Con.
1, Turnberry, with Rev. J. James in
charge of the service: Interment will
.1se made in Wingham Cemetery. The
pallbearers ..are Thus, Ellis, Clifford
Bartlett, Andrew Mitchell, Alex, El-
liott, Harold, Moffat" and Cedril Mof-

Mr. Charles Knechtel well known in
this district passed away in Meaford,
on Sunday, September 22nd., in his
89th year. He had been in failing

Harvest Home Services will be herd
in the Anglican Church on Sunday,
Sept. 29th., at 2.3)0 p.m., Daylight
Saving Time. Rev. Charles James of
St. Thomas will be the special speak-
er.
Mr. Ross Proctor has been awarded
a $100, Scholarship for first year stud-
ent at the O.A.C., Guelph, the award
being given by the Huron County
Federation of Agriculture. The course
begins this week.
Mr.! and Mrs, A. Styles and Mr. and
Mrs. J. Rudman and son, Donnie, all
of Toronto, and Mr. E. F. Lowry and
health fdr a year.

ed his early edueatioe, By trade he
was a harness maker and carried on
such business here for many years,
In February, 1888, he was married
to Mary Ann Nicholson, who survives
along with, two daughters, Mrs. j, W,
Mrs, Bert (tiprothy) Elliott of Ed-
(Vera) McKibbon, of Wingham, and
monton, One sister, Emily of Detroit,
and ten grandchildren.
One son, Allan P, Knechtel 'prede-
ceased him several years ago.
He was a member of the Presbyter-
ian Church and Order of Foresters.
The funeral service was held at the
Gardner Funeral Chapel, Meaford, on
Tuesday, September 24th., with inter-
ment in Wingham cemetery.
The pallbearers were Alf. Abery, Dr,
W, A. McKibborr J. P. McKibben, A.
N. Crawford, Fred Johnson, Albert
Bell,

tended anniversary services at Dtiff's
United Church, Walton, on Sunday,
when a relative, Rev. Dr, Alfred John-
ston, Professor Emeritus at Emman-
uel College, Toronto, was the guest
speaker.
Mrs, Palmer, Alberta, is visiting at
the home of Mr. and 'Mrs, Jas. Pea-
cock and with' other friends.
Mr. and Mrs. William Jenkins, Galt,
were week-end, visitors with their
daughter, Mrs. Hetherington and Gee,
Mr. and Mrs. William Blackmore of
Toronto, are spending this week at the
home of Mrs. Blackmore's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Elliott.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Mathers, Kin-
cardine, spent Sunday with relatives
here.
Mr. W. W. Mann is under the doc-
tor's care.

A very pleasant time was spent in
the Hall on Friday evening when a
large crowd gathered in honour of Mr.
and Mrs. Keith Dunbar, who were
recently married.
Mr. C. R. Coultes called the young
couple to the platform and on behalf
of the community extended to them
the good wishes of all,
Keith replied with a few well chos-
en words, thanking everyone for the
many gifts and extending an invita-
tion to visit them in their new home.
McDowell's Orchestra provided the
music for dancing.
The Belgrave A,Y.P.A, held its first
meeting of the season at the home of
Miss Nora VanCantp, last Friday evert-
ing. The following officers were elect-
ed:

President, Irene Logan; Secretary,
Norma Brydges; Treasurer, Ferrie
Nethery; Pianist, Nora VanCemp;
Press Reporter, Ruth Bradburn.
