Ontario Royal Commission on Forestry
PUBLIC HEARINGS
WHEREAS pursuant to the Public Inquiries Act, Chapter
1.9 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario, 1937, Major. General Howard
Kennedy was appointed a Commission4r to investigate, inquire into
and report upon-the forest resources of Ontario and their conserva-
tion, management and beneficial utilization for all purposes, includ-
ing.their relation to other basic industries, particularly farming, and
their relation to recreation, soil conservation, and waterways and
water powers—
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, after having completed
field investigations with his staff, the Commissioner proposes to hold
public hearings in accordance with the following tentative schedule:

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT all, persons, assoc-
iations or groups desiring to make representations or present evid-
ence to the Commission will have an opportunity of doing so at any
one of the above hearings. While the presentation of oral evidence
under oath is permissible, it is strongly urged that submissions take
the form of written briefs, as to the form of which the Commission's
counsel will give, any assistance that may be required.
All briefs or oral evidence presented at the public hearings
will be given proper consideration by the Commission in the prepar-
ation of its report and recommendations.
- In order to facilitate the work of the Commission, it is re-
quested that briefs be forwarded to The Secretary, Ontario Royal
Commission on Forestry, Administration Building, Long Branch
Small Arms Plant, Toronto, 14, to reach the office of the Commis-
sion at least one month before the, hearing at which their considera;,
tion is desired.

Peaches Grown Here
Wroxeter too can boast of having
peaches grown locally. A few years
ago, Mrs. W. E. Vanvelsor planted a
peach stone in her 'flower bed. This
year she was surprised to find eight
lovely peaches fully ripened, of good
color and excellent flavour, which were
shared with her neighbour and shut-in
friend, Mrs. James Stutt..
Women's Missionary Society
The September meeting of the Wom-
en's Missionary Society of the United
Church, will be held in, the church
basement on. Friday afternoon, Sept.'
1.3th, at . 3 p.m. Mrs. A. Munro and
Mrs. T. E. -Ball will have charge of
the Devotional period, Mrs. Donald
Maclean, Toronto, member of the
Dominion Board will be present and
introduce the study Book. All the

Paulin Family Presented
Mr. and Mrs. George Paulin who
have purchased a home in Clifford,
and took possession .of it last week
were guests of honor at a farewell
party in the Town Hall on Wednes-
day evening, when a large number ga-
thered. Dancing was enjoyed with
Wilbee's Orchestra providing the mus-
ic, Following the serving of refresh-
ments an oddness was read by Mrs.
H. V. McKenney and a gift of 'money
presented by Andy Gibson on behalf
of, the citizens of Wroxeter and -vici-
nity.
.In the community activities and the
church, Mr. and Mrs. Paulin, both na-
tives of Wroxeter, have made a fine
contribution. They will be greatly
missed and the Best Wishes of all go
with them to their new home.
Women's Institute
Mrs. Frank Sanderson opened her
home for the September meeting of
Wroxeter Women's Institilte, Thurs-
day afternoon, Sept. 5th, The presi-
dent, Mrs. H. V. McKenney, presided
with the singing of the Ode and repeat-
ing the Lord's Prayer. The minutes of
July meeting and report of the Com-
munity picnic were read by the Sec'y.,
Mrs. W. T. Maclean. The motto, for
the month, Life is like a garden, it
bears the fruit we sow. Letters were
read in response to gifts sent by the
good cheer committee also the secret-
ary reported a gift of money from
Mrs. J. J. Allen, Toronto, Mrs. Mac-
enney, Mrs. H. Hamilton, Mrs. Mun-
ro, Miss Hazelwood, Mrs., Wylie,
and Mrs. MacNaughton were appoint-
ed a committee to arrange for the In-
ter-Institute Contest which with the
Co-operaion of Gorrie and Ford.wich
Branches will be held .on an evening
of October. The Roll Call, Some
place I have 'visited recently, 'brought
a variety' of interesting names and
places. Mrs. Harold Hamilton dealt
with Current Events, including items
on Rationing, Health, W. I. News,
Gen. Montgomery's visit to Canada
and closing with choice verses, "It's
September" by Edgar Guest, Mrs.
MacNaughton briefly outlined the
ideals of the newly organized Wrox-
eter Home and Country Club. The
Topic was "Our Children's Health",
and the guest speaker Miss Mary
Love, school nurse for this district.,
The speaker told of the method of ex-
amination and said grades 1 and 7
were given the greater attention. The
pupils just entering or leaving public
school". She- stressed the value of pre-
venting illness, and asked the Co-op-
eration of parents as well as W. I. or-
ganizations in keeping the 'children
healthy. Her address left no doubt

School started on Tuesday morning
with Miss Pearl Jamieson as teacher,
and several new pupils in attendance.

Mr, Elvin Wightman has returned
to Ajax after visiting his pOrents, Mr,

Mr. and Mrs, Henry Wheeler ac-
companied by Mrs. M. Sellers attended
the funeral services for their aunt, the
late Mrs, Robert Whiteman, of Tor-
onto, which was held on Sunday after-
noon from the home of Mrs. Archie
Blair, Teeswater.
Mrs. Annie Coleman, Mr. and Mrs.
Wilford Coleman and, two sons, were
Sunday guests of Mrs. Joseph Lovell.
Mrs, Atkinson who has spent sever-
al months 'with her aunt, Mrs. W. S.
McKercher, left on. Thursday to visit
her son in Buffalo.

troit, Michigan, visited last week with

Connley was the former Mae Perrin,'
her father the late James. Perrin was
minister of the Presbyterian Church,
here.

Meet To Plan Programme
. The Wroxeter Home and Country
Club will hold a meeting in the Red
Cross Rooms on Friday evening at 8
o'clock to plan a programme for the
Fall and Winter season. This Club
was organized to include every citizen
of the village and surrounding com-
munity. Its aim is Civic Improve-
ment, Sports and Entertainment, for
