BELGRAVE
In the semi-finals the Mardoch team
put Brick out in the third game by
. the score of 15-12. Both teams played
good ball and a break could have giv-
en the game to either teams, so now
in the finals the Stone school and Mar-
nosh tangle. Because of the busy sea-
son all games are cancelled for the
'present.
.Belgrave team takes Wingham
Foundry in two games, Wednesday
night in Wingham they trounced
Wingham 22-9, in a return game at
Belgrave on Monday night. Belgrave
was on top 16-6.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wade and
Tommy, spent a few days at Wasaga
Beach. .

suddenly at his home early Monday

was in his 85th year, He leaves a son,

Toner school.
Mr. Wes. Cruickshanks from Mani-
toba and Mr. Wm, Graham of Strat-
ford, were renewing old acquaintances
in and around town last week, Both
of these gentlemen were former How-
irk residents. It is fifty-two ,years
since Mr. Cruickshanks left Howick•
township and• this is his first visit to
his old home.
Mr. Bert Cook of Mount Forest,
who was C, P. R, agent here for• a
number of years is retiring at the end
of this month. He and Mrs. Cook will
continue to reside in Mt. Forest.
Mr. and Mrs. R, W. N. Wade have
returned from a holiday spent at Kes-
wick Beach. They also motored
through the Highlands of Haliburton
and to Huntspille, Bracebridge, Gray-
enhurst and Orillia,
Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Dane, Toronto,
visited- friends here for a couple of
days last week, returning to their sum-
mer home at Keswick on Fri'aay.

Born—In the Mayfair Hospital, Tor-
onto, on Tuesday, July 16th., to Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon S. McIntyre; (form-
erly Miss Dorothy Miller of St. Hel-
ens), a son, Donald Gordon.
Mrs. John Jamieson of Lucknow,
and Mr. and Mrs, Ernie Wilson and
sons, Kenneth and ,Donald of ,Saska-
toon, were recent guests of Mr. and
Mrs. George Stuart.
Misses Helen and Joyce Newton
who are attending summer school at,
London, were week-end visitors with
their parents, Rev. M. G. and Mrs.
Newton.
Mr. Ernest Gaunt has been confin-
ed to bed'for the past week as a result
of an accident which occulTed during,
haying operations. While engaged, in.
taking off a load of hay in the barn,,
some planks fell striking him on the
head, His many friends hope tot as
speedy recovery.
Thirty-four ladies attended the i1/2.4.1-
gust meeting of the W.M.S.. When
Mrs. Andrew Gaunt was hostess. Mrs,
W. I. Miller presided. It was, agreed
to invite the ladies of the Btick United
Church, of Whitechurch United
Church and of the Ashfiela circuit to
the social meeting on August 14th,
with Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft as guest

The meeting of the Women's Assoc-
