BOARD MEETIN
The June meeting of Morris Town-
ship School Board was held on June 6,
with all members present. The pay-
ment of several accounts was authoriz-
ed. These included the balance of the
Hay Stationery account for supplies,
$346.88 and the account for wiring S.
S. No. 4, $396.07.
It was decided to continue Daylight
Saving Time in the schools until the
end of September.
Mr. Pickitt was instructed to do the
necessary repair work to furnaces and

agan of the R.A.F., London, England,
who returned to England this week.
Mr. and Mrs,' Robert Peter of Tim-
mins, accompanied by their aunts, Mrs.
Wade and Mrs. Whitfield of town, vis-
ited in Clifford and Harriston one day
last week. The former couple were
'spending a few days' at the home of
'Mrs. Wade.

Somers—Northorp
Standards of summer flowers made
the setting at High Park United
Church, Toronto, on Saturday, June
15th,; for the Marriage of Margaret
Rebecca Jean, only daughter of Mr.
Harry Clair. Northorp and the late
Mrs.' Northorp of Dartmouth, N. S.,
to Mr. Kenneth Richard Somers, of
Midland, only son of Mr. D. W. Som-
ers and the late Mrs. Somers of Wing,
ham. Rev. F. E. H. James officiated,
and Mr. Roy Grass played the wed-
ding music. Mrs. Ethel Grainger of
Toronto, sang "I Love You Truly."
The bride, given in marriage by her
brother, Ross, wore a white slipper
satin gown with -long 'train, sweet-
heart neckline held at either side with
seed pearl clips, scalloped bodice and
long sleeves, tapering to points. Her
trailing veil fell from a Mary Queen of
Scots headdress... She. carried Briar-
.cliffe roses with white sweet peas and
baby's breath and wore the groom's
gift, a pearl necklace.
Mrs. James Hamilton of Wingham,
as Matron of Honour wore a floor-
length blue embroidered organza gown
with sweetheart neckline, scalloped
bodice and cap sleeves, with Matching
headdress, and Mrs. (Dr.) Thos. Irwin
of Wingham, as bridesmaid, wore a
similar costume in pink embroidered
organza. Both carried Dream roses,
blue sweetpeas and baby's breath. Mr.
Wilbur Tiffin of Wingham, was
groomsman, and the ushers were J. P.
McKibbon, Wingliam and W.
Holmes, Toronto.
A reception was held in the Church
Parlours of High Park Church. For
the wedding, trip to Niagara Falls and
Buffalo, N.Y., the bride wore a two
piece ice blue wool suit with navy ac-
essories and a corsage of 'Dream roses.
On their return they will live at 230
Russell Street, Midland.

Summer flowers in Brick United
ChUrch, made a charming setting last
Saturday, June 15th., at three o'clock,
when Ella June, eldest daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Irwin, became the
bride of Lorne Alexander Nethery,
only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Nethery,
Hamilton, Ontario.
Rev. G. H. Dunlop solefnnized the
service, Prof. A. Cook, uncle of the
groom, presided at the organ. During
the signing of the register, Mr. Jack
Reavie of Wingham, sang "The One
Rose."
Given ih marriage by her father, the
bride was lovely in a floor-length gown
of Swiss embroidered marquisette over
satin with lily point sleeves, sweet-
heart neckline and fitted bodice. A
pleated headdress held in, place the
floor-length veil of illusion- net. She
carried a bouquet of Johanna roses.
The bride was attended by her sister,
Miss Gwen Irwin, as Matron of Hon-
our and Miss Norma Nethery, sister'of
tile groom, as bridesmaid, both were
gowned -alkie in turquoise blue sheer
floor-length gowns with shoulder-
length veils to match and carried bci.ti-
Rev, Dunlop on behalf of the congrega
tion, of the church, presented the bride
with a lovely Bible, this 'being the
first marriage to take place within the
building since it )vas built 75 years
ago.
The reception was held for 150
guests at the home of the bride's par-
ents. The bride's mother reeeivdd
in a .tUrquoSe hlug dres§ with navy ac-
cessories and corsage of yellow roses,
The groom's mother assisted, in a
dress of two-tone blue with navy ac-
cessories and corsage of fuschia
Following the reception the young
couple left for a short honeymoon to
points in North Ontario, the bride
wearing a dress of powder blue with
matching hat and gloves, black plas-
tic purse and shoesi corsage of white
carnations and carried a raspberry
shorty coat,
On their return, Mr, and .Mrs. Neth-
ery will reside in Hamilton.
Guests were present from Listowel,
Goderich, Kitchener, Woodstock, Sar-
nia, Wingham, Hamilton and TOronto.
Geddes Vardon
Of interest in Belgrave and the dis-
trict was the wedding on Saturday af-
ternoon in New St. James' Presbyter-
ian Church, London, of Amy Lor-
raine, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. J. A.
Vardon, Grosvenor street, to Stewart
Porterfield Geddes, son of Mr. and
Mrs. E. Geddes, Seaforth.
In a setting of peonies and ferns,
the bride was given in marriage by her
father at the ceremony performed by
Rev. Thomas Bryan. She wore a taf-
etta and lace gown with drop should-
er effect, full skirt and bodice buttoned
at the back to the waistline. A finger
tip net veil was held in place by bony-
ardia and she carried red roses. • .
Wedding music was played by Jack
McDermid and the soloist was Miss
Eleanor Hendershott..
The matron of honour, Mrs, Donald
Fettes, of Toronto, was in orchid taf-
etta, with matching Juliet cap head-
dress, trimmed with orchid and yellow
flowers. She carried a colonial bou-
quet of yellow roses and orchid sweet
peas.
Yellow tafeetta was 'worn by the
bridesmaid, Miss Marion Dennis,. who
wore matching headdress and carried a
bouquet similar to thit. of the matron
of honor.
The best man was Morris Comfort.
Guests were ushered to their seats by
Ross Nightingale and Bob Rowlings.
The bride's mother wore an ice blue
crepe dress, cinnamon brown accessor-
ies and corsage of Talisman roses.
The' groom's mother had chosen a rose
faconne dress with black accessories
and corsage bouquet of white roses
and pink sweet peas.
Following la reception at Cobble
stone Inn the. bride and groom left on
a motor trip east and on their return
will reside in London. Going away,
the bride wore a. pinksuit with black
picture hat, black shortie coat and
'black accessories.
Robinson—Johnston
A lovely wedding was solemnized at
the home of. the bride's parents, 12th
concession of East Wawanosh, when
June Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Gershom Johnston, became the bride
of David Edward, son of Mr. and Mrs.
J. C. Robinson of West Wawanosh.
Rev. W. A. B.eecroft performed the
ceremony,• beneath an arch of ever-
green and roses. The 'bride, given in
marriage by her father, wore a gown
of white net over satin, trimmed with
silver sequins, with matching head-
dress and floor-length veil. She car-
ried an arm bouquet of red roses and
maiden-hair fern.. Miss Lois John-
ston, as her sister's a,ttendant, wore a
blue floor-length gown, with matching
shoulder-length veil caught with pink
roses. She carried a bouquet of pink
carnations and fern. Mr, Gordon
Robinson, of Wingham, brother of the
groom, was best man,
The bride's mother, assisted by *the
groom's mother, received the guests,
the former wearing a two-piece dress
of light blue crepe and a corsage of
pink carnations, while the latter chose
a medium blue figured dress and a
corsage of pink carnations.
, After the ceremony, the wedding
dinner was served.
For travelling, the bride donned a
rose crepe dress, with pale blue ches-
terfield coat and white accessories.
They left on a motor trip to Kitchen-
er, Toronto, Niagara Falls and Allis-
ton.
Guests were present from Kitchener,
Windsor and Seaforth.
