MATERIALS are in SHORT SUPPLY and we expect a greatly increased volume in our business within the next two weeks. Wingham, Ontario, May 26th, 1946 Editor, The Advance-Times Dear 'Sir: The enclosed clipping was taken from the "Housewife's" column of the Free Press. It was sent to this lady from England so that is why it men- tions bluebells. But right here the people don't seem to realize the same thing can happen to our wild flowers, especially the red and white trilliums. Every trillium that is picked dies and leaves none for next year, That is why our wild flow- ers are disappearing." Perhaps if you had space you would publish this piece. Sincerely, Mrs, Chas. Showers. Not For You The bluebells in the Maytime woods are not for you to pick. Set yourself a simple question in arithmetic—ask yourself how many would be left if all who passed—picked an armful, How long would. that scene of beauty last.? Once out of the cool, green woods how rapidly they die! You see them tied on bicycles. It makes you won- der why—selfish- people want to tear them up so ruthlessly—instead of leav- ing them to grow for everyone to see. Leave them where they are so that their color draws the eye—and gives enjoyment and delight to others pass- ing by . Let the bluebell ring and swing upon its sturdy stem. Let them blow beneath the trees just where God planted them. Let them live; . . , and give to all who love the countryside—the joy of walking in the woodlands when the JULY POSSESSION—Country Cor- ner Horne Business, 8 acres fruits, vegetables, double deck henhouse, colony house, equipped small store attached, dwelling, hydro, gas, oils. $2,500 cash, includes about 375 pul- lets and store stock.
