OBITUARY Mrs, John. .Steele The funeral of the late Mrs, John Steele of town was held from R, A, Currie's. Funeral Parlours, on Monday . Afternoon, The service was conducted by' Rev, Alex Ninuno, of St. Andrew's . Presbyterian Church of which she was'. member. Burial took place in Wing- ham cemetery. The pallbearers were, H, L. .Sherbondy, John Raby, Albert Bell, Wilfred :Riehl, Mervin Temple man - and Elmer Wilkinson, Mrs, Steele, the former Mary John, ston, was a native of Ashfield Ship and was in her 77th year, Prior to coming to Wingham, 27 years ago, she lived at Lucknow for 25 years, Her husband predeceased her in 1930. Surviving is. a son and a daughter, Noble of Port Huron and Katharine at home. One brother, Wm. Johnston, also surives as does three grandchild- ren and one great grandchild. . • • William Thomas Martin A'. life-long resident of Turnberry, William Thomas Martin, passed on at his home, Lot 12, concession C., Turn- berry, on Tuesday, January 1st,, in his 67th year. He had .not enjoyed good health for several years. He was a highly respected resident of, the com- munity, a member of Delmore Pres- byterian church. He is survived 1py his wife, 'the' former Elizabeth Hastings, and one son, Thomas, of Toronto, Surviving also is a brother, John of Burlington. Rev. Harris The sympathy of this community is extended to Mr, T. H. Gibson of town, in the death of his sister, Mrs. E, A. HarriS of Fordwich, who passed on at the Harriston Nursing Home, on Wednesday,. January 2rul.,,•in.her 75th, year. She was the former Christin Gibson and lived all her life in How- ick Township. She was A. faithful member of the Presbyterian church, 'Surviving besides her husband, are two sons .and two daughters, 'Clair and Howard of Howick, Mrs, .Gordon Cars- well,, Minto Township, and Mrs. Clay- ton Carswell of Harriston, Two bro- thers and three sisters also survive, Edwin of Victoria, 13.,,C.; T. Harry of, Wingham; Mrs. Wm. Montgornery of Fordwich; Mrs. R, E. . McCallum, Mount Forest, and Mrs, Alex Hill of Toronto. The funeral was held from the family residence, Fordwich, on Sat- urday afternoon, and was in charge of Rev, Mr, McCarroll of Mole,sworth. Burial was in Fordwich cemetery. Mrs. F. G. Doney Mrs. Eunice Pearl Doney, a native of Wingham and a resident of London for many years, died 'suddenly at St, Joseph's hospital, London, of a heart attack on Sunday. She was 34 years of age and a member of Knox United church,' London. She is survived by her husband, Ma- jor F, G.t (Ted) Done,y,- R.C.A., S.C. 'overseas; her mother, Mrs. Pearl $linth ,of' London; two sisters, Mrs. Steven (Dorothy) Dundas, Clandeboyc; Mrs. C. Robert (Mildred) Kemp, Stoney Creek; her grandmother, Mrs. Magda- lene Nicholson, London. Her father, G. A. Smith. died 32 years ago. Funeral service will be-held at the A. Millard George funeral home today (Wednesday) at 2.30 p.m. Rev. E. A. Earchman, Knox United church, will officiate. Entombment-will take place in the Mausoleum at Woodland ceme- tery. Rev. Robert Barbour Rev. Robert Barbour, pf Toronto, passed away on Saturday morning at his home in his 87th year. A son of of Kinloss, he came to this country .from Scotland. when twelve years of age, He was well known throughout Western Ontario, having been princi- pal in the Petrolia school for many years. He preached in the Presbyter- ian churches at Stouffville and Mea- ford before entering the United church at the time of union. He was super-' anuated over fifteen years ago after serving the church for over forty years. Fifty-five years ago, February 16th, he married Mary Jane Andersdn, daught- er of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anderson of the 9th concession of West Wawa- nosh. To them was born two daught- ers, Mrs. Albright of Toronto, and the other daughter passing on a few years ago. Also surviving is his wife and one brother, Mrs. William Barbour of GUNN-At Indianapolis, Ind,. ' on. Tuesday,' January 1st., 1946, Carlyle Gunn, husband of ,Kathleen Wood Gunn, and son of the late William, Gunn, formerly of Wingham.
