Kenneth, Campbell, eldest son of Mr.
and Mrs. W. A. Campbell. Kenneth
enlisted as a Spine in 1941, and spent
the past three years and three months,
serving 'in England, France, Holland
and 'Germany, and although he had
some very close calls;' is very happy'
to be home minus any injury. His'
wife hopes to be 'able to loin him be-
fore many months!

Crump, who completed his high
school education with night courses
while working, as a machinist
apprentice and put himself through
college, has been named general
manager of the Canadian Pacific
Railway's eastern lines, effective
Jan. 1, 1946. Only 41 years of age,
he has a fine background of prac-
tical railroad training and two
science degrees from Purdue Uni-
versity. He has been assistant gen-eral manager of this territory from
the head of the Great Lakes to
the Atlantic seaboard for the past
15 months.

Bible Presented To Soldiers
On Thursday night last a fair num-
ber attended the social evening held in
the Sunday School Rooms of .the Un-
ited Church for those on active service
and their families. Unfortunately only
four of the list were present to receive
their Bibles. Others have' or will re-
ceive theirs. A. short program. pre-
sented by members of the Sunday
School was enjoyed. The presenta-
tions were made by Mr. E. J. Farrish,
Superintendent of the Sunday School,
the names of those receiving follow
the first four' being present. George
Dane, Jasper Parrish,. John Greer, El-
gin McInnis, Kenneth Galbraith, Billie
Heibein, Bill Townsend, Harold Town-
seed, Earl Baker, Kenneth Wright,
David Howse, James. Howse, George
Heinniiller, Rev, George Wylie, Roy
Pritchard, Jim Pritchard, Joe Earrigey,
Bill Edwards and Earl Harrison. An-
other such entertainment waslield in
the fall when other members received
their gift front the church.
To Observe Week Of Prayer
Next week, Gorrie too, will have an
opportunity to join in a week of -prayer,
when all three churches are joining in
these services. Ott Tuesday night the
service will be held in the United
Church When Mrs. MeCarroll will be
the speaker, on Wednesday night, Rev.
Mr. Howse will give the address in the
Presbyterian Church and Thursday
night; Rev, Mr. Nobes will speak in the
United. Church. We trust all who can
will join in these trwetings.

The family and friends of the 6th
and 9th line Red Cross Group met at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Gregg
on Monday night when no New Year's
Eve. Party was more enjoyed, Seven
tables of euchre were played white at
other tables, bingo, chinese checkers,
crokinole were enjoyed, Prizes were
won by Mrs. E. Sparling, C. R. Black,
G. Brown and H. -E. Ashton. B.S.M.
Toin Ritchie, son of Mrs. Clara Ritchie,
an active member of the :group was an
honoured guest and was presented with
a gift of money from the group, New
Year's resolutions' were presented, at
which time Torn thanked his friends
for- their gifts, which he had received
while overseas as well as the one just
received. Tom invalided home recent-
ly after four years of service for his.
country, is a patient at . the Military
Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Percy, Ashton supplied
the music fotedancing until the New
Year was well ushered in.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyone Michel and
daughter, Karen, spent New Year's day
with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Zim-
merman at Milverton.

their way up the aisles to the choir, to
the lighting of the eandles.. Those in
charge were., Misses Doreen Haraon,
leader assisted by Pauline Hein-

of the church are invited.

Happy New Year To All.
The E. Wawanosh people were sorry
to hear the Mrs. George Naylor had
slipped when coming down stairs on
Wednesday evening last, and fractured
her left leg at the hip, She was taken
to Goderich hospital by ambulance.
They, were also sorry to hear that Mrs.
Thos. Irwin of Wingham, had suffered
a stroke one evening last week, and
was taken to Wingham Hospital. We
wish, them both a speedy recovery.
Miss Marie and Mr. Douglas Spar-
ling of Wingham, spent last week with
their grandaparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Thos. 'Moore.
Mr. Kenneth Laidlaw left on Tues-
day to resume his work at St. Cathar-
ines, after spending last week with his
