VEHICLE PERMITS
ARE NOW ON SALE
Motor vehicle permits and, drivers'
licenses went on sale in Ontario, Wed-
nesday, Jan, 2nd. The new .registra,
tram plates have a 'black background
with white figures, Only one plate
will be issued for each car this year,
since wartime restrictions will not yet
permit release of sufficient steel for
two. B.-y 1947, however, it is expected
that Ontario ears Again will carry two
plates, one front and one rear, because
police authorities agree that the front
plate is of considerable value to them
in checking motorists.
Had Special Mention
In the December issue of the Ont-
ario Progressive Conservative News,
the party official paper, our local M,
P. P., John W. Hanna, received special
mention in connection with convention
doings. The paper said "One of the l
busiest of the 800 delegates was the.
ever popular and colorful J. W. (Jack)
Hanna, M. P. P. (Huron-Bruce). "The.
Senator" as he is known amongst his
friends is a political strategist 'of no
mean ability. He is particularly popu-
lar with the press and can always be
counted on as a source of good copy".
