by the Huron federation of Agrieul-
ture, registration of hog producers in
this county for the vote now being
taken on, proposals to organize the hog
producers of the province for regula-
tion of marketing has reacred a total
of 1,740. Bain Stewart, agricultural
representative and deputy returning
officer for the referendum being taken.
among county swine producers, an-
nounced Friday night, that 1.490 of
those registered have already voted,
while ballots 'were being mailed from
Clinton to another 250 who have regis-
tered as hog producers, but have not
yet exercised their franchise. The bal-
lots can be returned in person or by
mail to the agricultural representative's
office Clinton until Saturday this
week.
Total possible registration in Huron
'County is estimated at 5,000, Farmers
in the county, number approximately
5,700 and of these it is estimated that
at .least four in every five produce one
or more hogs.
The task of getting the hog produc-
ers registered to vote has been pushed
by the county federation, with the sec-
retary, Victor t Roy, , of Londesboro,
playing a leading part, A county
committee of three. William Turnbull
of Brussels, Charles Coultes of Bel-
grave, and Bert Lobb of Clinton, has
taken responsibility for making the
details of the proposed organization
known to the swine men of the coun-
ty, and a special representative of the
Federation of Agriculture has been
appointed in, each township in Huron
to work on the organization of swine
producers.
Two county meetings, one in Hen-
sall and one in Belgrave, and nine
township meetings have been held un-
der Federation of Agriculture sponsor-
ship to spread information about the
hog marketing scheme, and a majority
of the 1,740 registrations have been
received at these meetings. Only in a
few small areas has a farm-to-farm
canvass been undertaken. Some of the
registrations have been picked tip by
the deputy returning -officer or his as-
sistant at township nomination meet-

Ilene Winnifred MacLeod, of Wing-
harn,danghter of Mr, and Mrs. William
MacLeod of Saskatoon, was united in
marriage to Linwood Clifford Hewitt,
son of Mrs, Catharine Hewitt and the
late Alexander Hewitt, of Kincardine,
Rev. T. 5. Watson, officiated, The
bride wore a floor-length gown of
ivory satin, and a finger-tip veil caught
with two ostrich tips, She wore a
pearl necklace and carried a shower
bouquet of orchids with streamers of
Better Times Roses, Mrs. Gus Boyle,
as her only attendant, wore a floor-
length black velvet dress trimmed with
silver and matching black hat with
pink ostrich feathers. She carried a
shower bouquet of white gardenias. Mr.
Gus Boyle was the best man.
FolloWing a. dinner party at the
Hotel London, Mr. and Mrs, Hewitt
left for Detroit and other points. For
travelling the bride donned a muskrat
coat over her dress of gold wool, worn
with brown and gold feathered hat and
brown accessories,

with the former's brother, Mr. Edwin

Morley Cecil Jordan
Death came with startling sudden-
ness to Morley Cecil Jordan at his
home in Clinton, on •Thursday night.
Mr. Jordan had been chatting with
some friends who were in for the even-
ing and was stricken with a heart at-
tack. He died before aid could be
reached. • The .departed man had not
suffered any illness previously and his
death was a very great shock' to his
family.
Mr. Jordan was born in Perth Coun-
ty on July 23rd., 1894, a son of the late
Samuel Jordan and Martha Davidson.

Dr. A. W. Macfie
Dr. Archie William Macfie, secre-
tary-treasurer of the Board of Regents
of Drugless Practitioners died in St,
Michael's Hospital, Toronto, early on
Sunday, in his 60th year. He was a
native of Appin and after receiving his
degree in Chiropractics at Chicago
practised in London until 1936, At
that time he received the appointment
he held until his death and gave up
*practice moving to Toronto in 1939.
He was a Mason, a member of the
Royal Order of Moose and the United
Church.
He is "survived by his wife, the for-
mer Mary Currie, of Wingham, three
daughters, Mrs. Donald (Elsie) Yon-
son, Oshawa; Miss Evelyn, Toronto;
and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Haslett, of
London; a son, James, Windsor; a
brother, Charles Macfie, a former M.
L. A.. of Appin; a sister, Mrs. James

For some years he conducted a groc-
ery business. For 30 years he had
been a rural mail courier, 22 years
around Clinton and 8 years around
Belgrave.
He went to Clinton 22 years ago
prior to that had lived at different
points in Perth County, Brussels, Bel-
grave, and Vancouver. Mr. Jordan
was a member of Clinton Lodge, No.
84, A.R&A.M. In religion he was a
Presbyterian.
In February, 1928, re married Mary
Walton, who survives along with one
daughter, Joan at home. Also surviv-
ing are one brother, George; Belgrave,
and two sisters, (Gladys), Mrs. Arthur'
Groves, Clinton; and (Jennie) Mrs. W.
L' Wheeler, Vancouver.
The funeral service was held at the•
Beattie Funeral Home' on Saturday
Afternoon, Burial took place in the.
Clinton cemetery.

OBITUARY
Mrs. Albert E. Fleming
Six weeks after she had gone to
Windsor to reside with her son, Alvie,
Margaret Ann Irwin, widow of the late
Albert E. Fleming, passed on following
two weeks illness, A native of Luck-
now, she was in her 83rd. year She
continued to live in LuCknow until
she and 'her husband came to 'Wing-
ham to reside in 1901, Her husband
predeceased het by 23 years. Burial
took place in Greenhill cemetery,
Lucknow, following the arrival of the
remains on the C.N.R. train on Sat-
urday afternoon. The service was con-
ducted by Rev. Jack James, rector of
St. Paul's Anglican Church, Wingham,
of which she was, a member.
Surviving are two sons, Alvie of
Windsor and Elliott of Fergus, a third
son passed on a number of years ago.

Following an illness of a week,
George Caslick, 29 Blake Street, Strat.
ford, passed away ' in the . Stratford
General Hospital, Monday, November
26th., in his 57th Year. He was a nat-
ive of Gulross, a son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Caslick. He spent riS
youth in Cuirass and conducted a
blacksmith business in "Teeswater,
prior to going to Stratford three years
ago. He leaves to mourn his passing,
besides his wife, the former Charlotte
Burns of Brussels, seven children,
Mrs. Joe (Verna) Hassel, Lodon; Mrs.
John (Margaret) Demtherling of Har-,
riston; Mrs. John (Georgina) Smith,
Stratford; Harold, Frank .and Evelyn
at home, He is also survived by a
brother, Earl and a sister, Mrs. David
McAllister, both of Culross and three
.grandchildren.
The funeral was held at the resi-
dence of his brother-in-law, Mr, David
McAllister, Lot 21, Concession 3, Cul-
toss on Thursday afternoon, The of-
ficiating clergyman was Rev. Mr. Fac-
ey of Teeswater United Church, Burial
took plate in Teeswater Cemetery. The
pallbearers were Amos Atwood, James
Kirby, Win. Davidson, Duncan Mc-
Gregor, George Miller.

Mrs. James Irwin Johnston
The death occurred on Tuesday, No-
;limber 27th, in Scott Memorial I-Ias-
i pital, Seaforth, of a well-known resi-
dent of Seaforth in the person of,Mar-
tra Wallace, relict of the late fames
Irwin Johnston, who passed away re-
cently, Mrs, Johnston had undergone,
an operation but, filled to tally, She
Was in her 58th year', and was married
in Donnybrook in January, 1921. She
is survived by one brother, Mr. Geo,
Wallace, Donnybrook, in East Wawa-
nosh, and a sister, MrS, Thornasina
Cunningham, _Toronto. She was a
faithful member of Vorthside United
