The council was assigned to "continue the necessary work for the peace settle- ments." Promised that the writing of a peace treaty with Italy shall be the first task of the council; after the treaty is con- cluded the Big Three will seek to get Italy into the United Nations. Blackballed Franco Spain from membership in the 'United Nations be- cause its Government was founded with Axis support and because of its "close association with the aggressor states." Reaffirmed their purpose of bringing war criminals to "swift and sure jus- tice." Decided that peace treaties with Roumania, .Bulgaria, Hungary and Finland shall be concluded after the one with Italy, Offered to all these, and to neutrals who qualify under the United Nations Charter, eventual support for member- ships in the New World League. Abolished the European Advisory Commission and agreed to revise pro- cedures of Allied control commissions in Rumania, Bulgaria and Hungary, Examined tension of the authority of Austria's Provisional Government, but left the question open to detailed study later. The conditions imposed on defeated Germany make the Versailles Treaty look like child's play. The Big Three intend firmly to hold the world's fate in their hands as final arbiters. Soviet Russia emerges as the domi- nating power in Europe. Soviet Russia, in control of Koenigs- berg and former German Baltic reg- ions east of that city, has enormously improved her position as a maritime power. The Western Allies' war in the Paci- fic received the endorsement of Prem- ier Stalin, in that the Russian leader agreed that Italy should be rewarded by an early peace treaty for joining the war against Japan. Italy, Roumania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Finland wil be back on a peace basis long before Germany can hope for such status. Germany will pay for her folly in unloosing the Second Great War. The end of the first ,war left German in- dustry and shipping-two of her great- est econimic assets-intact. The Ver- sailles Treaty also permitted the devel. opment of her civil aviation on a big scale, , SUGAR FOR BEEKEEPERS 3. L'apression 4. Master (India) 5. Policeman 6. Polynesian drink 7. Small S.
