Mrs. Andrew Kirk. who had been
visiting with her family in Detroit and
Birmingham during the past two
months, returned home Thursday. Mrs.
Creighton accompanied her and return-
ed to Detroit on. Friday. Miss Flor-
ence Beecroft, Toronto, also spent the
week-end with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. D. Beecroft,
Miss Mary Caution of London, spent
the week-end at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Jas. McInnis.
Three of our local men went to
Amberley for a night's sucker fishing
last Friday, and return home with 80
fine specimens. Many homes enjoyed
the treat.,
'Pte. Orton Grain of Woodstock and
Mrs. Grain, spent the week-end at his
home here, and Mrs. Grain returned
with him to spend her holidays at
Woodstock with him.
This community extends congratu-
lations to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tiffin
of Kinloss, who were married at the
manse, by Rev. A. H. Wilson, on Sat-
urday.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Farrier and
daughter, Marion of Preston, have
been moving to Wingham during the
past week, and will make their home
on Minnie St.
Miss Louise Martin of Kincardine,
spent the week-end with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Martin.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes and
family attended a family gathering at
the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Thos. Kerry of Paisley on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ira' McLean and chil-
dren of Wroxeter, and Mr. and Mrs.
S. H. Cross and family of Walkerton,
spent Sunday with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. J. F. McLean, and Dorothy
and Helen Cross stayed to spend their
holidays here this week.

her training course at Collingwood
three weeks ago, and who has taken a

Last week we announced that Sgt.
Neil Williamson, who is on the A.T.
staff here, was being transferred to
London. Since that time these orders
have been cancelled and he is remain-
ing on the staff here,

Mrs. David Finlay received the:sad
news on Saturday evening of the death
of her nephew, Pte. Kenneth Ford of
Windsor. Kenneth wa's twice wound-
ed. The first in Italy in August last
year, He made a good recovery and
returned to front line duty, but was
fatally wounded in Germany, March
8th, passing on the following day. He
is survived by his father and mother,
Mr. and Mrs, John Ford of Windsor,
also a brother and two sisters, Billie,
Jean, and Lucille, all of Windsor. He
was in his 21st year.

In a letter from Ken Somers . re-
ceived at this office on Monday, he
tells of meeting Frank Collar in Brus-
sels. Ken says that Frank looks well
even after • spending five months in
hospital with a dislocated knee. He
also had a that with Jack Montgom-
ery. Ken said that he used to see Jack
Herd quite frequently, but that Jack
had been moved. Jack is now a corp-
oral according to Ken's letter.

We had the pleasure of talking to a
soldier on Saturday who is home on
rotation leave, but who expects to take
up farming on the 10th of Turnberry.
He is G. W. Shaw and lie enlisted in
the Army Service Corps in September
1939 and arrived overseas in January
1940. He landed in Normandy June
18th, 12 days after D-day and was with
his unit through France and Belgium
into Holland.

Mr. and MrS. Thos, Inglis returned
home last week from their trip to Vic-
toria, B.C., arid through the West.
The congregation of the Presbyter-
ian Church held their Sunday service
in their redecorated church. The ceil-
ing and wall woodwork is done in
ivory, while the walls are cream, which
makes a splendid improvement,

Mrs, Murray, Mr. Price Stott, Mrs.
Johnston Conn, arid Mrs. R. J. Ross
attended the funeral of the late Miss
Minnie Reid, on Saturday, Mlis Reid
passed away on Thursday at her ,home
in Teeswater. Formerly of the 4th
of Cultoss, the Reid family was well-
kridwit to residents of this district.
Four sisters survive, Miss Jennie,- at
home; Mrs. Martha Porter, Toronto;
Mrs, Lisso of Ayr, and Mrs. Ben
Snider of Sault Ste. Marie, and one
brother, Mr. Whi, Reid of Wingliant
Mr, and Mrs. Frank Lisso and son of
Ayr, attended the funeral. Burial was
made in Tiffin's Cemetery, with Rev.
Mr. Stewart of Teeswater in charge of
the services,
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Falconer and
family, spent Monday with Mr, and
Mrs. 'Calvert Falconer of Blyth,
Misses Ariel and Lois Johnston of
London, and Mr. and Mrs. Stewart
Smith and Donald and Douglas of
Kitchener, spent the week-end with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs, Gershom
Johnston.

home of their daughter, Mrs. Mason
Robinson.

Ross and Tpr. Irwin McClenaghan are
now in Belgium, and Pte, Chas. Moore,
Lance Cpl. D6hald Ross are in Hol-
land, Pte. Harold Mason is in Ger-
many. All are well.

interested in the Federation Broadcast
from CKNX on Monday evening. The
Forums sent a member- there to answer
questions on the values of the winter
broadcasts and discussions, Mr. Gor-

Arrangements are being made for
the people of this community to meet
in the Pre6yterian Church on Victory
Day for a Thanksgiving service.
Mr. Frank Thompson was the dele-
gate from the East Wawanosh School
Area. Trustees Board to attend the On-
tario Educational Convention in To-
ronto on Monday and Tuesday. He
motored with Mr. Fordyce Clark; the
delegate from Colborne School Area.

The canvassers for the recent Red
Cross drive have completed their can-
vass with satisfactory results. The
district includes the village, the bound-
ary line east and west, 1st and 2nd
concessions of Morris, portions of the
B line and the 4th, 6th, 9th and 10th
concessions of Turnberry, also part of
The Missionary meeting of the
United Church was held at the manse
Wednesday afternoon. •
Friday evening Easter service was
held in McIntosh Church with a splen-
did attendance.
Saturday evening, in honour of Miss
Marion Inglis, a shower was held at
Adam Darling's, when her girl friends
presented her with chinaware.
