Neil Williamson, who is on the A.T. staff here, was being transferred to London. Since that time these orders have been cancelled and he is remain- ing on the staff here, * * * * Mrs. David Finlay received the:sad news on Saturday evening of the death of her nephew, Pte. Kenneth Ford of Windsor. Kenneth wa's twice wound- ed. The first in Italy in August last year, He made a good recovery and returned to front line duty, but was fatally wounded in Germany, March 8th, passing on the following day. He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs, John Ford of Windsor, also a brother and two sisters, Billie, Jean, and Lucille, all of Windsor. He was in his 21st year. *, * * . * In a letter from Ken Somers . re- ceived at this office on Monday, he tells of meeting Frank Collar in Brus- sels. Ken says that Frank looks well even after • spending five months in hospital with a dislocated knee. He also had a that with Jack Montgom- ery. Ken said that he used to see Jack Herd quite frequently, but that Jack had been moved. Jack is now a corp- oral according to Ken's letter. * * * * We had the pleasure of talking to a soldier on Saturday who is home on rotation leave, but who expects to take up farming on the 10th of Turnberry. He is G. W. Shaw and lie enlisted in the Army Service Corps in September 1939 and arrived overseas in January 1940. He landed in Normandy June 18th, 12 days after D-day and was with his unit through France and Belgium into Holland. The congregation of the Presbyter- ian Church held their Sunday service in their redecorated church. Ross attended the funeral of the late Miss Minnie Reid, on Saturday, Mlis Reid passed away on Thursday at her ,home in Teeswater. Formerly of the 4th of Cultoss, the Reid family was well- kridwit to residents of this district. Four sisters survive, Miss Jennie,- at home; Mrs. Martha Porter, Toronto; Mrs, Lisso of Ayr, and Mrs. Ben Snider of Sault Ste. Marie, and one brother, Mr. Whi, Reid of Wingliant Mr, and Mrs. Frank Lisso and son of Ayr, attended the funeral. Burial was made in Tiffin's Cemetery, with Rev. Mr. Stewart of Teeswater in charge of the services, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Red Cross Total 074.00 The canvassers for the recent Red Cross drive have completed their can- vass with satisfactory results. The district includes the village, the bound- ary line east and west, 1st and 2nd concessions of Morris, portions of the B line and the 4th, 6th, 9th and 10th concessions of Turnberry, also part of The Missionary meeting of the United Church was held at the manse Wednesday afternoon. • Friday evening Easter service was held in McIntosh Church with a splen- did attendance.
