Mrs. 'Gamble and sister, Miss C.
Jardine, returned home on Tuesday
last after a six-months visit to the
coast and Places enroute.
The, Gorrie Orchestra are playing
for the Institute dance being held in
the Township Hall here on Friday
night. As well there will be a gener,
our door prize. The Institute are do-
ing good war work and, are worthy of
your patronage.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest King are
spending the week with their daugh-
ter, Mrs. Perce Calmer and Mr. Col-
ter, in Toronto.
W.A.A.C. Ivy Moffatt, of London,
spent her Christmas leave with her
mother, Mrs. Moffatt.
Mrs. Irwin and daughter, Miss Edda
of Toronto, spent the holidays with
her sons, Messrs Manford and Archie
Irwin.
Splendid School Christmas Concert
On Thursday evening, the township
hall, decorated with streamers of red
and green as well as two Christmas
trees, was well filled with an enthusi-
astic audience for the annual school.
Christmas entertainment. The teach-
ers, Misses Jean Sparling and June
Brown are to be congratulated on the
splendid programme presented by the
children.
Mr. J, E. Farrish was chairman for
the evening, and the programme con-
sisted of dialogues — (1) Making a
cake; (2) Ministers Mistake; (3) With
the help of the family; (4) War Effort;
(5) Christmas burglar. Recitations by
Johnstone Parrish, Jim Okley, Betty
Newton; Piano duett, by Florence
Anger and Marlene Barton; piano solo
by George Gregg; songs, "Three Little
Maids at Tea", "Aunt Melissa's. Beau"
and "Christmas Cavalcade"; drills,
"Upside Down Drill", "Tramp Drill",
"Flag Drill"; pantomine, Silent Night;
the Rhythm band and Sandman along
with choruses by both rooms, before
the chariman called Hector Hamilton
and his bride to the stage and Miss
Eleanore .Carson presented them with
a purse of money while Miss Dorothy
Edwards read the address which fol-
lows:
"Hec." as he is known in Gorrie, has
been serving his country with RC.A.F.
for over three years, a year of which
he was stationed in Newfoundland, and
at present is stationed in Brantford,
where they will reside. "Hec." thank-
ed his many friends for their gift.
Santa Claus made short work of the
well laden trees, while the committee
in charge of the presentation prepared
lunch which was the concluding num-
ber on a full evenings entertainment.

Striton Ashton and Mrs. Ashton in
Hamilton,
Mr, Joel Magrath is visiting his
brother, Mr. J. E, Parrish in Toronto.
The United Church Sunday School
"At Home" will be held on Thursday
night in the school rooms, when Mr.
Neill will have a reel or two to show,
the children and all who are interest-
ed in the work of the Sunday School.
Lunch will be served and an enjoyable
evening is assured.

ployed at Hamilton for the past few
months, has returned home.

were read and on motion of Farrish

,that the tender of Gordon Gibson and
Ted Smith to operate the Wroxeter
Rink during the winter of 1944-45, they
paying therefor the sum of $15.00 plus
the cost of lighting, be accepted, —

A splendid gathering was held in the
Presbyterian Church here on Friday
evening, when the' congregations of the
Presbyterian and the United Church
gathered for a Christmas social even-
ing, After a short program of music-
al numbers and recitations and• carol
singing and contests, all enjoyed the
social hour when lunch was 'served.
