Hamilton - Beecroft '
A quiet but pretty •wedding was
solemnized at Zion United Church,
—Beantford, on Saturday, December 16.
when Beatrice Izena Beecroft, younger
daughter of Mr. John Beecroft and
the late Mrs, Beecroft of Belgrave,
was united in marriage to Corporal
Hector Alexander Hamilton, R.C.A.F.,
youngest son of the late Mr. A. M.
Hamilton and Mrs. Hamilton of
Gorrie. The ceremony was performed
ill by Rev. W. B.. Craw, minister of the
church. The bride, given in marriage
by her father, looked lovely in a dress
of white sheer and floor length veil of
tulle, held in place by a coronet of
pearls and embroidery. She carried a
shower bouquet of red roses and white
mums. The couple were unattended.
Following the ceremony a reception
was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Shrubsole, 26 Ontario St., Brantford.
Guests were present from Toronto,
Belgrave, Blyth and Otterville. Be-
fore leaving on a trip to points east,
Mrs. Hamilton donned a dress of black
crepe with sky blue trim and black
accessories. She wore the gift of the
groom, a squirrel neckpiece. They
will reside in Brantford.

OBITUARY
Mrs. William McMichael
On Friday, December 22nd, Mrs,
William McMichael died at her home
in Bluevale after many months of fail-
ing health. Mrs. McMichael was the
former Jennie Willits, and was born in
Howick towship 79 years ago, daught-
er of the late Mr. and Mrs. Crocket
Willits. She was married 55 , years
ago to William McMichael, who died
in February of this year. The late Mr.
and Mrs. McMichael lived for some
years in Howick and Morris townships

Mr. Henry Johnscm. Shuter Street,
received word Christmas Day that his
brother, Dr. James Colton Johnson of
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, had died that day,
Dr, Johnson was in his 76th year and
spent his early days in Morris town-
ship. He was born at Holinesville,
but when he was 9 months old the
family moved to the 5th of Morris.
After graduating from Clinton'High
and Model Schools he taught school
for a few years, He entered, Western
University to study medicine and fol-
lowing his graduation commenced
practice at Adrian, Mic14, but for the
past number of years has lived at
Cedar Rapids, He is survived by one
son, Dwight, of Philadelphia and a

EADIE—In Turnberry, on, Wednes-
day, December 27th, Katharine C.
Eadie, in her 83rd year. The re-
mains are resting at Fryfogle's Fun-
eral Parlours, Wingham, where the
service will be held at 2 p.m., on
Friday, December 29th. Interment
in Wingham Cemetery.

!noon of Friday. A splendid program
was, put on with the public school
scholars assisting in drills, motion
songs, recitations. Hats off to Shirley
McLean who did her part exception-
, ally well, Santa Claus came on the
scene and treated each child.
Wednesday night was set apart for
the school concert. A cold stormy
night, some didn't venture, out,
Tuesday evening Lane's School
held their concert, also Inglis School
on the 15th. All these affairs take
up much time and patience and should
receive much credit.
Those on the sick list; Mrs. Henry
Johann not so well again. Mrs. Reu-
ben Stokes got a 'bad shaking up by
falling down cellar, but no bones were
broken.

The death of Mrs, Oliver Stokes on
Sabbath morning, plunged the com-
munity into sorrow, although ltd poor
health for some time.
The Red Cross quilting will be held
Thursday afternoon at. Mrs. Newan's

Mr. Sam Sweeney of Gowanston,
spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Smith,
Several Christmas carols were sung
at the Christmas service on Sunday,
Rev. Snell gave a special Christmas
message. The flowers which were
placed in the church for the service,
had been cabled to Mr and Mrs.
Leonard Cook from England.
A splendid Christmas concert was
held in the Westfield school house on
Wednesday evening. Although the
roads and weather conditions were not
all one would wishe,still everyone felt
repaid for the effort of making the
journey to the little red school house
on the hill, The words of welcome
were given by Norman Wightman,
followed by a Christmas tableau
in which several Christmas carols were
sung. The scene showing the Shep-
herds, 'Wise Men, Mary and Joseph
and the Manger. Recitations were
given by the Junior Scholars, Dia-
logues, Irish Philosipher Uncle Hir-
am's Cold, were well given, also star
drill and flag. Sailors hornpipe and
two dances by the Junior pupils, A
short play "A Waiting Room" was giv-
en by the young people of the com-
munity, The National Anthem brought
the programme to a close, Santa then
made his appearance.
Mrs. Oliver Stokes
Following an illness of a week, Ida
Alberta Crawford, beloved wife of Mr.
Oliver Stokes, Lot 7, Con, 11, Turn-
berry, passed on in Wingham General
Hospital, Sunday morning, December
24th, in her 60th year, She was born
in Mornington Township, Perth Coun-
ty and when she was 12 years of age
the family moved to Howick where
she lived until her marriage 36 years
ago, since that residing at the above
address. She' was a faithful member
of Eadies Presbyterian church and
was active in Red Cross and other war
work, Their only child died in in-
fancy. No brothers or sisters survive
as she is the last of the family.
The funeral was held froth the fam-
ily residence on Wednesday afternoon.
The service was conducted by Rev.
John C. Hutton, minister of Pine River
United Church, a former resident and
friend of the deceased. burial took
place in Wroxeter Cemetery. The
pallbearers were six nephews, John
Stokes, Clarence Stokes, Thomas
Stokes, James Stokes, Selah Brecken-
ridge, Harry Mulvey.
and moved to Bluevale in 1912.
Mrs. McMichael is survived by six
children, Willia:m of Detroit; Robert
of St. Jacobs; John of Listowel; Edgar
of Toronto; Mrs, Hugh Sinnamon
(Ada) of Wingham, and Mrs. Gordon
Hall (Sadie) of Bluevale. The oldest
son, Archie, died in 1912, Three sis-
ters and four brothers also survive,
Miss Alice Willits, Detroit; Mrs. Win.
Linn, Molesworth; Mrs. John Albert,
New Liskeard; David, Ann Arbor,
Mich.; Abraham, Enoch and John of
Detroit.
A private service was held from her
late residence on Sunday afternoon
conducted by Rev. J. W. Johnson of
the United Church. Interment was
made in Bluevale cemetery,
grandson who is in the U.S, Army.
He is also survived by ,his brother
Henry, of Wingham, and a sister, Mrs.
Richard Wightman of Detroit. Burial
will be in Adrian Cemetery on Thurs-
day this week.

Richard Oilkieson on the 50th anni-
versary of their wedding, We remetn-
