An interesting meeting of the. W. M.
S. was held Wednesday afternoon at
,Mrs. Norman Newans with 9 in at-
tendance. The meeting took the form
of a Canadian Friendship Service inter-
spersed with Christmas carols. Candles.
were used in the service, The first
member lighting her candle for the
Jews of Canada the race into which
Christ was born. Following a French
carol the second member lighter her
candle for the French Canadians who
worship with us in the Catholic
the Universal Church of Jesus Christ.
A Polish carol was sung and the third
member's candle was lighted for the

town hall, Teeswater, for Wednesday
evening, was called off.

Institute Meets December 13th
The December meeting of the Gor-
rie Women's Institute will be held on
Wednesday, December 13, at the home
of Mrs. E. J. Farrish, when the pro-
gram will be in charge of Miss Marg-
aret Dane. Reports of the Institute
Convention at Guelph will •be given.
Roll Call-A Christmas Recitation and
gifts for those on active service in
Canada will be gratefully received,
Treat For The Children
The children in the whole communi-
ty will be pleased to learn the Institute
are sponsoring their usual Christmas
treat for them in the form of a pic-
ture show to be held in the township
hall here on Saturday, December 16,
and begins at 2 p.m. SHARP. Santa
will be there as well to greet the chil-
dren, and Mr, Neil will see after the
pictures.

spent last week with her daughter,
Mrs. C. G. Cooke.
Mrs. Gordon Edgar visited with her
son:Mr. and Mrs. Harold Edgar, 'in
Toronto, a few days last week.
Miss Lavina Scott of Morris, is re-
cuperating at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. F. C. Taylor following an oper-
ation for appendicitis at the Wingham
General Hospital recently.
Mr, and Mrs. Nelson Underwood,
Wingham, also Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Earl, Wroxeter, were guests at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. King on
Wednesday last.
PO. Leland Ashton, Toronto, spent
the week-end with his mother, Mrs. R.
A. Ashton.
