Little Allen McCrea, five-month-old
son of Mr, and Mrs, Ross McCrea of
Culross, was taken to Wingham hos-
pital one day last week, and has been
seriously ill with intestinal flu.
Miss June Irwin of Toronto, and
Miss Gwendolyn Irwin, who is attend-
ing the Business College at London,
spent the week-end with their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Herson Irwin.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Deacon and
Gertrude, of Toronto, and Mis Shirley
Volby of Whitby, spent the week-end
with Mr. and Mrs, Cecil Chamney.
Mr. and Mrs, Lawrence Vannan of
Windsor and Mr. and Mrs. Tack Pee-

The regular Meeting of the Wo-
ttien's Institute was held on Thursday
last with the president, Mrs. Cecil
Va.leorier in the chair. After the toll
call, hintsun storing winter vegetables,
the ladies made plats for the banquet
on Thursday 126, for the Vederation
of Agriculture. Mrs. W, R. Farrier
gays a very lititereSting paper on
Trieti and Tested Short-eus for house-
work and cooking, and 'the meeting
me closed by singing the National
Anthem, The ladies then turned to
the Bazaar tables, loaded with home-
made baking, vegetables, fruit and
sewing, and then all enjoyed the ten
cent tea, and the ladies realized $26
for the Institute and the overseas
boxes. The ladies are asking that all
contribute this week for the overseas
ditty bags and Xmas boxes for the
boys in France and England.
Mr. Alex Anderson who has been
at the Houle of Mr. Bert Thomp-
son, returned to Toronto on Monday.
Mrs, A. Fallahay and Vera also Mr.
Beattie of Toronto, spent the holiday
at the same home and with other
relatives,

BELGRAVE
Ladies' Guild Entertained At Blyth
Mrs. (Rev,) P. H. Streeter of Blyth,
was hostess to the Ladies' Guild of
Trinity Anglican Church, Beigrave,
one afternoon last week. There was
an attendance of fifteen ladies,
Mrs. Streeter was in the chair for
the worship service and study period,
and opened the meeting with a hymn
and prayer. Rev, P. H. Streeter read
the scripture lesson and all joined in
the Lord's Prayer. "Something I am
thankful for" was the roll call re-
sponse.
A paper on "The Columbia Mission"
was given by Mrs. C. H. Wade. Mr.
Streeter read an article on Thanks-
giving.
The president, Mrs. Wade, conduct-
ed the business session, which includ-
ed the minutes of the last meeting and
treasurer's report. Birthday money
and monthly fees were received. Re-
ports were given by the committees in
charge, that boxes had been sent to
seven men from the church now serv-
ing overseas, also that a bale had been
sent to an Indian Mission.
Mrs. Streeter closed' the meeting
with prayer after which lunch was
served and a social hour enjoyed.
Bluevale Minister Preached At
Anniversary
Anniversary services were held in
Knox United Church on Sunday, Octo-
ber 8th, at 11 and 7.30, The special
speaker for the day was Rev. J. W.
Johnston of Bluevale. Large congre-
gations were in attendance at both
services despite the dull and showery
weather which prevailed throughout
the day.
The choir sang an anthem at each
service and in the morning a trio com-
prised of Mrs. G. H. Dunlop, Mrs.
George Michie and Mrs. Norman
Keating sang "Joy Cometh in the
Morning."
At the evening service John Reavie
of Wingham, was the guest soloist.
At the morning service the: speaker
took as his subject "We are Debtors"
and in the evening the sermon was
based on the story of Matthew.
Special Services Next Sunday
Next Sunday, October 15th, 'Harvest
Festival Services will be held in Trin-
ty Anglican Church at 11.15 a.m. and
7.30 p.m. The rector, Rev, P. H.
Streeter, will 'be in charge of the morn-
ng service and special music will be
provided by the choir.
In the evening the Rev. M. F. Old-
gm of St. Johns Church, Brussels, will
be the special speaker, and the choir
of St, Paul's Church, Wingham, under
the direction of Roy Mundy, will
furnish th e music.
Stewart, Geddes, only son of Mr.
ind Mrs. Ernest Geddes of Seaforth,
formerly of Belgraire, has been com-
missioned as Lieutenant in England.
He enlisted in 1941 and went over-
seas in July of last year.
Thomas Brydges and daughter, Mrs.
Joseph Dunbar, spent a week with Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Hayes and family of
Elyria, Ohio.
Mrs. L. Hodder of London, her
brother, Garfield Wray and his +laugh-
er Lucille of Regina, Mrs. Dr. Coi-
ling and son, Dr. Kenneth Coiling of
Lambeth, visited recently with Mrs.
J. A. Brandon and Mrs. H. Perdue.
