France July 2/44
Dear family:—
Just a line to let you know I am
fine and •hope that you are all the
same. I received your two parcels.
We enjoyed the eats very much and
they came at a very good time. We
are having plenty of rain here since
we landed. in France. The country
here looks much the same as England.
I didn't get a chance to see Andy or
Nora, but will •likely see them in the
near future. Betty will be having a
nice holiday now and I guess doing
plenty. .
Can't say very Much. Many .thanks
for the parcels.
The following letter was written in
England to Nora, prior to both of
them going to France. •
June 18th/44
'Just a line to let you know I re-
ceived your welcome letter. Glad to
hear that you are fine and enjoy the
parade ground. The boys would get
a kick out of seeing you girls stepping
around the square.
I was over and saw Andy for a
couple' of hours the other day and he
is fine also. Had cigs from home
this week and also a Xmas parcel sent
in November. I am all over the
world—
What do you think of Jerrie's new
secret weapon. A bit scarey at first,
but you soon get used to them. I
don't think they will amount to very
much. There doesn't seem 'to be very
much to write about. Love „
Matt.
