Saskatoon. Funeral was held Friday
at the Evans funeral home, Hamilton
road. Rev. Howard King, of Hyatt
Avenue, United Church officiated. In-
terment took place in Brown's Hill
cemetery.

The Red Cross Society held a quilt-
ing at the home of Miss Lila Emerson
on Thursday last.
Spr. Kenneth and Mrs. Laidlaw and
baby of London, spent Saturday with
their parents here, and Mrs. Laidlaw
returned home on Monday from Lon-
don, to spend the next few weeks with
elatitves here.
Mrs. Wesley Lott and daughter,
Marie, of Waterford, are visiting this
week with Mr, and Mrs. Walter Lott.
Pte. and Mrs. Orton Grain of Wood-
stock, spent the week-end with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Lance Grain.
Miss Barbara Mackay of Wingham,
spent the week-end with her grand-
father, Mr, Hector Mackay and,Miss
Agnes Mackay.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McBurney and
Mr. and Mrs. Alec Leaver visited on
Sunday with their aunt, Mrs. John
King of Ethel.
Mrs, O'Callahan and son Joe, and
her grandson, Bill Monahan, all of De-
troit had been visiting with her sister,
at Greenock, visited on Monday with
Mrs. Dan Martin and other old neigh-
bours. Her son Frank, who is well-
known in these parts, has been in the
American navy and has not been home
for over two years.

the week-end with Miss Jean Leaver,

Rev. Dr. F. S. McKenzie To Preach
Rev. F. G. Fowler conducted the ser-
vice in Knox Presbyterian church, he
used as his text "Jesus the same yes-
terday, today and forever" pointing out
that the longer a person lives a Chris-
tian life their conception of the power
of an unchangeable Christ is greater."
Al quartette was contributed by
Messrs. J. C. Higgins, H. A. Ramsay,
Mrs. F. G. Fowler and Mrs. R. Elliott.
Mr. Fowler is' having his vacation

OBITUARY
' Mrs. R. F. Edgar
The funeral of the late Mrs. R. F.
Edgar was held from the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Wm. Wright, Wrox-
eteis on Wednesday afternoon, July
26th, The service was conducted by
Rev. R. C. Copeland assisted by Rev.
Jas. L. FOster. Burial took place in
Gorrie . cemetery. The pallbearers
were Thos, Lovell, August Keil, Jas.
Wylie, James Edgar, Victor Ehera,
Robt, Cathers. Following a long ill
ness Mrs. Edgar passed on at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Wright.
She was 67 years old and was born in
Remick. She was married to her late,
husband in 1904, he predeceasing her
in 1938. A member of Gorrie United
Church she was highly respected by
her many friends. Surviving are two
daughters and four sons, Cameron and
Andrew of Gorrie; Alex, and William
of Howick; Mrs. Charles R, Black of
Howick, and Mrs. Wm. Wright of
Wroxeter.
Friends from Ayr, Guelph, Paris and
Brussels attended the funeral,

James Vittie, '71, of 315 Egerton St.,
London, died at Victoria Hospital af-
tap, long •illness, Bore in Gorrie he
went to London as a boy and had lived
theta ever since. He Was a member
'of the Canadian Order o f Foreeters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary;
three sons, Wilfred of Niagara Falls,
ICY., David and James, of tendon,
three daughters, Mrs. Annie Mixon, of
llyron, and tvelytt and trove at home;yron,
one brother, Thomas, of Gorrie; and
four sisters, Mrs, janteS Tinting, of
tfstowei, Mrs, Mary Wilson, of St.
Thomas, Ivies, Bessie MoVaddan, of
Chicago, and Mrs. Susan Martin of
Falconer, spent Monday at Walkerton.

Newbury, Sgt. Bruce Horne of Camp
Borden and Mrs. Horne of Toronto,
were recent guests of Mrs. Nash and

who has spent the past month at her
home left on ,Friday for Rainy River,
where she will relieve at the Red
Cross hospital.

his furlough with his grandfather, Mr.

spent a few days last week with her
sister, Mrs. Victor Shera and Mr.

Pte. Kemp of Pleasant Valley, Sask.,
and Camp Borden, spent the week-end

she will visit this week with her

Word has been received of the safe
arrival in France of Pte, Earl Harris-
on, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Harri-
son, who has been training in England
some months.

visited with their sister and brother,

water were Sunday visitors of Mr.

Mr. and Mrs, Wm. Finlay Listowel,
Mr. Wm, Wright, Brussels, also Mr,
and Mrs, Green of Wroxeter all visit-
ed with their sister, Mrs. Stinson last
week.
Mr. Joel McGrath who lost his borne
by fire some months ago has purchas-
ed Mr. Jas. Anger's home. We under-
' stand Mr. and Mrs. Anger plan on
moving to Listowel to reside.
Rev, and Mrs, H. L. Jennings have
returned to their home at Morpeth,
after spending their vacation with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs, C. Laurence.
Sgt. Jack Musgrove, Camp Borden,
and Mr. and Mrs. Gilkinson, Hanover,
spent the week-end with her mother,
Mrs. C. King.
Mr. and Mrs. Oppenthauser.and son
of Elmira, spent =the week-end with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Fos-
ter.
The Women's Institute will meet on
Wed,, Aug. 9th at the home of. Mrs.
Everett Sperling. When the program
planned for the June meeting will be
acrried out.
Miss Lizzie McKee, Toronto, visit-
ed her sister and brother, Mrs. John
Wylie and Mr. George McKee.
Over one hundred children and their
parents attended the United Church
Sunday school picnic held in the park
here on Friday, despite the rain which
fell earlier in the afternoon, but which
didn't interfere with the sports plann-
ed. All reported an enjoyable after-
noon spent.
Mrs. Cook of Housey Rapids, Mus-
koka, visited her sister-in-law, Mrs.
Ed. McCallum and Mrs. McCallum a
couple of days this week. '
Mrs. Howard, has returned to her
home in Chatham, after visiting her
sister, Mrs. S. G. Koine.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Edgar and
baby daughter, Mrs. Swift and daugh-
ter, Norma, all of Toronto, are spend-
ing this week with the former's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Edgar.
Other visitors at the same home on
Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. William
Lynn, Mrs. Willis and baby daughter
of Gorrie south.
Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Holmes and
Miss Perkins are holidaying at their
cottage at Bruce Beach.
Mrs. Agnes Earls is visiting her
daughter, Mrs. T. J. MacDonald and
Mr. MacDonald at Molesworth.
Miss .Chevalier of Welland, is the
guest of her friend, Mrs. Nobes and
Rev. Nobes at the rectory this week.
Londesboro Minister To Preach
Rev. A. E. Menzies of Londesborore
will conduct the service in Belgrave
and Brick United churches next Sun-

Communion Sunday Evening Next
Holy Communion will be observed
in Trinity Anglican church next Sun-
day, August 6th.,. at 7.30 in the even-
ing. The services have been held in
the morning throughout July.
Red Cross Acknowledge Donation
The Belgrave Red Cross Society ac-
knowledge receipt of $23.50 from the
6th. line East Wawanosh War Work-,
ers, it being the proceeds of a quilt on
which tickets were sold, and the draw
made at the Red Cross Frolic at John
McGill's on July 20th. Miss Nora
VanCamp won the quilt.
