Margaret Murdock of London, Mr. and Mrs. ,Bob McLeod and Ian of Waterloo, were recent visitors at the home of Sgt. Hiseler. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Torrance and family of Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Torrance and family of Shel- bourne, were week-end, guests of Dr. and Mrs. T. L. Torrance. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Campbell and daughter, Eleanor and Mrs. MacDon- ald of Owen Sound, also M. and Mrs. D. S. McNaughton and son, John of Wroxeter visited on Sunday with Mrs. J. H. Wade. Word has been received from Ted and Lloyd Elliott from France that they received the smokes from the Legion and Lions Club and that they wish to thank each and everyone for the kindness shown to the home 'boys. BELGRAVE W. M. S. Entertained At Manse Knox Presbyterian church Wom- en's Missionary Society, were enter- tained at the Manse, Brussels, by Rev. Samuel and Mrs. Kerr, on Friday af- ternoon of last week. The regular meeting was held with the president, Mrs, R. J. Scott, presiding. The call to Worship was read responsively followed by the Bible lesson, Psalm 74 read by Mrs'. Joseph Dunbar. Mrs. John Coultes led in prayer. The min- utes of the last meeting were read by the Secretary, Mrs. Athol &lice and treasurer's report by Mrs. J. Dunbar. Visits to sick and shut in were re- ported and thanks received for sym- pathy and helpfulness during illness. The roll call was responded to and of- fering received. An address on Peace was given by Mrs. 0. G. Anderson. Mrs. Athol Bruce entertained with piano solos. The Glad Tidings prayer was taken by Mrs. Scott, The meeting closed with the singing of a hymn and prayer by 'the President. Lunch was served at the close. A hearty vote of thanks was extended to Mr. and Mrs. Kerr for their hospitality. W. M. S. and Mission Band Met Jointly The Brick United Church Women's Missionary SoCiety and Mission Band, East Wawanosh, met together in the church on Friday afternoon with a fairly good attendance, Mrs. Stewart McBurney's group was in charge of the worship and study period, which was based on Temperance. Mrs. Berson Irwin and Mrs. McBurney gave a pamphlet reading. Mrs. G, fl, Dunlop led. a discussion on temperance trends. ,Mrs. Earl An- derson of Belgrave gave a report of the annual meeting of the London Conference branch held in Strathroy, which she attended as delegate from North Huron, The business period was conducted by the President, Mrs, L. Wightman, Mrs. Robert Coupes' group will be in charge of the August meeting. Lunch was served at the close. Y. P. U. Held Weiner Roast The Young Peoples' Union of the United church held a Weiner Roast at the 4th. line bridge one evening last Week with an attendance of 40. Coultes, Brave Adventurers Group Met • The July meeting of the Brave Ad- venturers Mission Band was held in Brick Church, July 14th. The theme was "Learning to Use our Hands," with Eileen Snell, presiding. The meet- ing opened with tlik call . to Worship, the hymn, "I am. Thine 0 Lord" was sung. The Worship Story was told by Dorothy Pattison and Shirley Snell read the Scripture. The offering was received and "0 Jesus, I Have Prom- ised," was sung, Barbara Irwin led in prayer and Eileen ' Snell told the Study book story,. "The Weavers of Nanking," the memory verse was re- peated by all and the meeting-dosed by singing "Tell Me the Stories of Jesus." Mr. and Mrs. Milton Lake of Elora, are visitors with .Mrs. 3. A. Brandon. Mrs. Harvey Watson of London, is visiting with her sister, Mrs. Wm. Dunbar. BLUEVALE Junior Club 'Presented Institute Program Mrs, J. J. Elliott was the hostess this week for the July meeting of the Women's Institute, when the meeting was arranged and presented by mem- bers of the Junior Homemaking Club under the leadership of Miss Jean Elliott. "The Club •Girl entertains" and "Th e Milky Way" were the projects stticlie.(1 this year, The Roll Call' was "My Favorite Milk Dish" accompanied by the recipe. "The home girl entertains informally at tea" was demonstrated by Miss Eileen Henning, An. Invalid's Tray was exhibited, Misses Helen Thomson and Marguerite Henning gave talks on "Play Safe With Milk" illustrated with Charts. Record books, hand made recipe books and envelopes were exhibited by members of the class. Mission Band Held Meeting The Mission Band of the United Church met this week in the Sunday School room of the church. The new- ly elected superintendent, Mrs. 'George Fell presided through`Out the meeting. After sinking "God Sees the Little Sparrow Fall" all repeated the Mission Band Purpose. During the Worship period all the members took part. Bible quotations and readings on "Peace" and "Temperance" were given lay Delores Hamilton, Priscilla Mann, Muriel Smith and Mrs. M. L. Aitken, Miss Margaret Curtis told the story "The Camp in the Mongo Grove" a story of Mission Life in India pointing out the lesson of ICindness to others, Fractured Arm Murray Johnston, the young son of Mr. and Mrs, Sparling Johnston, 1st, concession, Morris Township, fell off a load .of hay on Saturday afternoon and suffered a broken arm. ••••immi.i6iew Miss Dorothy Aitken left this week for Rockeliffe, for her basic training, having joined the R.C.A,F., (W. We were sorry to hear the young son of Mr. and Mrs. Sparling John- ston fell off a load of hay and broke his arm. A large number of Orangemen and other folks attended the. Orange cele- bration at Listowel on the 12th of July. Miss Louie Patton returned on Fri- day from Toronto where she has been visiting. Farrish was in Toronto, a few days last week attending a poul- try convention. Mr, and Mrs. Arthur Stephens El- eanor and Bobby are holidaying at Orr Lake for a couple of weeks. Miss Arlene Galbraith of London, is spending a few weeks with her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Anson Galbraith. Mrs. Halliday was moved to the Wingham Hospital last Thursday with a heart condition.
