Several meetings have been held in
E. Wawanosh during the past week ,
with Mr. KinKead, school inspector,
-speaking on the school area system,
and this week meetings will be held
at Westfield on Monday night and at
Belgrave on Wednesday, night. The
Farm Forum studied this project this
winter, and the people have teen very
enthusiastic about it.
A very interesting meeting was held
in the hall here on Friday evening,
under the auspices of the Farm Fed-

Quite a few telephones in the corn-
munity„were put out of commission
during the Sunday evening electrical
storm, while several trees were also
struck by lightning on the farm of Mr.
Robe Purdon.
Mr. and. Mrs. Henry McGee cele-
brated the fourty-ninth anniversary of
their wedding on Monday. Mrs, Mc-
Gee has been confined to her bed dur-
ing the past week with a very sore leg.
Mr. and Mrs.'Ed. McBurney motore
ed to London on Satufday and the
three daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Mil-
ton McBurney returned home with
them to spend their holidays with

During the severe electric storm
Sunday night, a large ash tree on the
line between Carl 'Procter and Rich-
ard Procter, Concession 4, Morris
township, was struck by lightning and
stripped of much of its bark,

decided to hold their annual S, S.
picnic on the park at Bayfield, on
Saturday, June 24th.
Red Cross Shipment
The Red Cross unit shipped supplies
to Wingham this week including 10
suits of Men's pyjamas, 5 suits of boys
pyjamas, 8 yrs. size, 10 girls dresses,
2 yr. size, 10 nighties, 8 yr. size.
Knitted garments with yarn supplied
by Wingham: 2 little girls sweaters,
1 little boys suit sweater and pants, 3
long sleeved sweaters.
37 Years Married
Mr. and Mrs. Peter S. McEwen
celebrated the 87th anniversary of
their marriage on Monday, at their
home in the village. In the evening
they opened their home for a come
munity prayer meeting. Rev.. F. G.
Fowler conducted the service and
spoke on the giving of a "cup of cold
water" pointing out that gifts and
small acts of kindness done in God's
name are of great importance. A
quartette composed of Mrs. F. G,
Fowler, Mrs. R. Elliott, Allan Ram-
say and J. C. Higgins sang "Take
Time to be Holy." Prayer was offer-
ed by Mrs. George Thornton and, Mrs.
McEwen, -
Mr. and Mrs, Robert Hutcheson and
Miss Sanderson, Toronto, are spending
a few days at, their home here.

Gillen, Wingham, visited on Sunday

brated their 40th wedding anniversary

A large crowd attended the present-
ation of two one:-act plays in the gor-
ester's Hail by the, Young, People of
the Anglican and United Churches,
"Mary Molly Malone" was enacted by
the Anglican Young People, and "The
White Phantom" by the group fretti

,Erie. Mrs. Galbraith, who has spent
the past three 'years with her parents,

Quite a lot of excitement was.'arous-
ed in the village ott Friday when Mr.
George McClenaghan's team was start-
led in his barnyard and ran away with
the wagon, out the lane and onto the
road, heading, to Lucknow. They
finally, quiet$d down, and were
brought back with little damage done.
Mr. John LMorrison backede and
swung his car away froin Pollock's
store on Friday and backed into the
side of Mr, John Hetchison's car,
breaking the glass and buckling up
the fenders.
Mr. and Mrs. George Walker had
on Sunday, 'the pleasure of talking to
their son, Wilfred, who called them on
the telephone 'from Indian Head, Sask.
Mr. and. Mrs. Walter James and
little son. had a narrow escape in the
electrical storm on Sunday evening,
when lightning struck .their chimney,
came down and knocked down their
pipes and split open the metallic ceil-
ing. Mrs. James was „deaf from the
crash until dext morning. Lightning
