Mrs. (Gordon Edgar spent the week-
end with her son, Mr. and Mrs. Har-
old Edgar in Toronto.
Mrs, Ruby Harper and daughter
Grace, were London visitors on Wed-
nesday last.
Mr. and Mrs. Cloyne Michel and
daughter, Karen, spent Sunday with
her sister, Mr, and Mrs. Kelterborn, in
Milverton.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Shera and daugh-
ter Shirley, spent Sunday with. Mr. and
Mrs. Wesley Hill at Moorefield.
Mr. Jack Watson, Blyth, is spend-
ing a few weeks with his uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Ashton,
Mr. Walter Hemingway, Toronto, is
spending a couple of weeks at his
home here.
The repair work train arrived in
town on • Thursday night and have
commenced the job of rebuilding the
watertank at the station.
Auxiliary Given Convention Report
Only a small number were present
at the regular monthly meeting of the
Evening Auxiliary held in the board
room of the church on Wednesday
night. Group 2, were in charge with
Miss Dorothy Edwards acting as
leader, who chose the theme, "All the
World and all of Life for Christ”.
During the program a missionary quiz
game was conducted by the leader.
Miss Margaret Dane gave a very
fine report of the Convention held re-
cently at Clinton. Mrs. Copeland also
gave a report on Temperance. Many
enlightening points were brought back
front the convention in her report as
well.
The president was in the chair for
business, Minutes were approved as

Report of Convention in London
Received
The regular meeting of St. Stephens
W, A,, was held at the home of Mrs.
N, Wade on Friday last, when some
quilt patches were made and sewed
together..
The devotional period was led by
president with prayer in unison, and
roll call answered 'with a missionary
thought. Mrs.. Nobel read the scrip-
ture reading which was taken from
the 10th chapter of St, Luke.
Mrs, Holmes gave a very interesting
account of the Annual Convention
held in Cronyn Memorial Hall, Lon-
don, the week previous, which she and
Mrs. Geo, King attended as delegates,
(Mrs, King being unable to attend
this meeting on account of illness). A
very dainty lunch was served by the
hostess while all enjoyed a social half
hour.

the week-end with her sister, Mrs.
Clifford Dodds and Mr. Dodds.
Miss Edna Irwin, Toronto, spent the
week-end with her grandfather, Mr.
Charles Irwin, who we regret, is ill
and under the doctor's care.
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Colmer and
Gary of Toronto, spent, the week-end
at her home here. .Mrs. Ernest King
who had 'been visiting- her daughter
for the past two weeks, returned with
them. Mr. E. King is spending this
week at their home in Toronto,

cation services in St. Paul's church,
Wingham, Sunday evening at which
Rev. A, H. O'Neil, a former rector
here, officiated.
Mr. Archie Halladay, Toronto, spent
the week-end with his mother here.
Mrs. W. Earngey is visiting her
daughter, Mis. Laurence 'Short ,and
Mr. Short in Fergus.
Mr. Harold King, Harriston, spent
the week-end with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. G. S. King.
Mr, and Mrs. Jack Maguire of Clif-
ford, were Sunday guests with their
brother and sister, Mr. B. J. and Miss
Mary Maguire, rs,
Mr. Donald Copeland, Toronto,
spent the week-end with his parents,
at the parsonage. On Monday Mrs.
Copeland and Donald were London
visitors.
Miss Achison of Sault Ste. Marie,
who is a guest of Mr, and Mrs. S.
Robinson of Fordwich, called on Gor-
rie friends on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Nichols of
Teeswater, were Sunday guests of Mr.
and Mrs. 'Wilbur Gallaway.
LAC. Vern Clark and Mrs. Clark
left on Saturday for Mount Joli where
Mr. Clark is at present stationed.
While visiting his parents hi Listosvel,
friends and neighbors presented Mr.
and Mrs. Clark with a beautiful table
lamp in honour of their recent mar-
riage.
Mrs. Jas./Anger had a pleasant sur-
prise last Tuesday evening, when her
cousin, Oswald Barnes with the Brit-
ish F.A.A,, who has ;been stationed for
a short time in St. Louis, Miss., and
whose home is near London, England,
paid her a flying visit. We under-
stand this is the first of her own rela-
tives she has, seen since coming to.
Canada over twenty years ago. Un-
fortunately Mr. Barnes had to leave
again on Wednesday noon,
Bdr. Harold Keil, London, spent the
week-end with his wife and, parents
here.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Magrath, Mr.
and Mrs. Stuart Hueston, Toronto,
spent Tuesday with friends in the vil-
lage.
We reported the Howick Musical
Festival was to be held in the Town
Hall here, This will he held in the
United Church rather than the hall on
April 29th,
Mr. Jas. B. Wylie and son Donald,
of Leaside, spent the week-end with
his mother, Mrs. John Wylie,
P.O. Lealand Ashton of Hagersville,
visited his mother, Mrs, R. A, Ashton
this week,
Mr, Henry, Toronto, acclipied the
pulpit in the 'United Church here, on
Sunday moitrnig and spoke in the ht-
terests of temperance.

Ripley, spent Sunday at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Ferguson.
The citizens of 'Gorrie are pleased
to see a start has 'been made to im-
prove the appearance of Main Street
where the. Steinrniller Hotel was situ-
lted. This unsightly corner has been,
an eyesore for years and now the citi-
zens have purchased it and plans are
to fill in the cellar, level the entire
property and besides having a small
park and it is anticipated a bowling
green. Lets hope our ambitions are
reached.

wich groups, Approximately 55. girls
were present with their leaders, Miss
Kay Irwin, Miss Mary McDonald 'of
Wroxeter, and 'Mrs. Thos. Wilson of
Fordwich,
A short programme was presented
with Janice Strong, president, in the
chair and Greta Hyndman in charge
of the worship service which opened
with the purpose and answer, , Miss
Doris Galbraith favored with a solo
with Miss Loreen King joining in the
chorus. Patricia and Helen Strong
played an enjoyable piano ,dust. Miss
Loreen King and Miss Ione Day sang
a lovely duet for which the girls de-
manded an encore. Miss Marion King
r.
accompanied Doris and Ione and Lor-
ee on the piano. Mary Ritchie read
the C.G.I.T. Monitor, which she edi-
ted herself, This paper occasioned
many a hearty laugh as a barb struck
home at several of the girls present.
Miss Dorothy Edwards, assisted by
Miss Greta .Hyndman, and Miss Janice
Strong, had charge of the games and
contests, which were very much en-
joyed.
Lunch was seived by the hostess
group, supervised by Miss Jean King,
Miss Wilma Heibein, Pauline Hein-
miller, 'Florence Anger, who were
complimented highly on their menu.
Miss Alice Howes, Wroxeter, tender-
ed a vote of appreciation on behalf of
Wroxeter. Miss Wilda Patterson, on
behalf of Fordwich which was second-
ed by Lenore Wilson, Fordwich. Our
president replied in a few gracious
words. Then Taps and the Friendship
Circle completed the evening.

The monthly meeting of the W.M.S.
convened in 'the Board Room: of the
Church on Thursday, May 4th.
under the leadership of Mrs. W. J.
Gallaher; the program, with the theme
"All the world and all of life for
hrist", was combined with thoughts
ertaining to our Mothers.
Hymn "When Mothers of Salem"
as sung, after which Mrs. Whitely,
Its. L. Ruttan, Mrs. Copeland, Mrs.

on assisted in a responsive exercise
in a service of dedication to the Great
Commission "Go ye into, all the world
and preach the gospel".
The scripture lesson was read from
the book of Proverbs by Mrs. Nash.
Mrs. Gallaher read poems to the
memory pf Mother and • hymn "Tell
Mother I'll be there" was sung.
Reports of the Presbyterial held re-
cently at Clinton, were given by Mrs.
Gallaher and Mrs. R. Ashton.
Mrs. Wylie led in prayer for our
boys in the armed forces and for God's
guidance in a troubled world.
