their week-end guests, Mr, and Mrs.
A. Forster, Dublin, Mr. Alvin Hud-
son, Toronto, Miss Mary Howell of
Goderich, Mrs. Frances Glassop and
daughter Betty Ann of Listowel. Betty
Ann is remaining for the holiday
week.
Mrs. Neil Carr returned from 'Wing-
ham Hospital on . Saturday. Baby
Frances Dean Carr will remain in the
hospital a short time. °
Mrs. Harvey Timm was taken to
Listowel hospital on Thursday last
where she underwent an operation for
appendicitis. Her many friends will
be pleased to know she • is getting
along nicely.

spending her vacation with her sister,

United Church its chancel, bright
with spring flowers in basket arrange-
ment, was a line setting for the special
Easter service held in United Church.
Easter morning with Rev. 5. L, Poster
in charge. Special music was given
by the choir under the direction of the
leader, Mr, G. A. Wearring with Miss
Mary Gibson at organist. "Easter
Morn" by .Chas. Franco Lane and
"Hail the Saviour king" by T. M.

Charles Mackay.

military hospital at St. Thomas for the
past two weeks suffering from tonsil-
itis and quinsy.

W. I. Annual Meeting
The April meeting of the W. I. was
held at the home of Mrs. Denny on
Thursday, April 6th,. with an attend-
ance of 29 members and visitors. The
president, Mrs. D. S. MacNaughton,
presided and opened the meeting with
the singing of the Ode, followed by
the Lords Prayer in unison. During
the business:period, Mrs, McKenney
reported for the Waste Fats Commit-
tee. During the year, 200 lbs. were
brought in and had been sent to head-
quarters, The member responsible for
the largest amount was presented with
an interesting booklet containing $1.00
worth of War Stamps, Mrs. H. I,
Durst was the lucky member. The
presentation being made by Mrs. Mae-
Kenney. Mrs. Sanderson presented
the nominating committee's report as
follows: president, , Mrs. D. S. Mac-
Naughton; 1st vice-pres., Mrs. H. V.
McKenney; 2nti vice-pres., Mrs. V.
Denny; sec-treas., Mrs. W. A. Sawtell;

"Friendship". "The Story of Easter"
was the topic given by Mrs. Howes
whose message of inspiration and hope.
was greatly enjoyed. Tea was served
at the close, the hostess being assisted
by Mrs. W. Maclean and Miss K.
Hazelwood, and a social hour enjoyed.
The Institute annual report will be
published next week,
Red Cross Party
The final Red Cross euchre and
bingo of the season was held on.Wed-
nesday evening last in Red Cross
rooms. Mrs. George Newton was the
winner of ladies prize and Mr. G. A,
Wearring held the highest score for
gentlemen. A few games of bingo
were enjoyed at the close. From Jan-
uary 1st to the present time the fin-
ance committee have raised $246.00
for the local Red Cross. This has
also provided a social evening for all
in the community.
