Mr. and Mrs. John Mason and
family spent a day last week at Lon-
don with het sister, Mrs. Kilpatrick,
with her mother, Mrs.. Clarke, who has
been ill with pneumonia.
Mrs. A. Kirk, Mrs. J. D. Beecroft
and her daughter, Miss Florence Bee-
croft of Toronto, spent the week-end
at the home of the .former's grandson,
Lieut. F, _L. Creighton, who gradu-
ated last week from. San Marcos,
Texas, as a Flight Lieutenant, and
with Mr. and MrS, • Oliver Kirk of
Birmingham, Mich,
Wren Velma Scott left last week
after spending her two-week furlough
with her father, Mr. Price Scott.
The Women's Institute. held a very
successful euchre and dance in the In-
stitute Hall her on Thursday last,
when 14 tables were played. Mr, and
Mrs. Ernest Casemore were the win-
ners at euchre for high points and
Mrs. Walter Lott and Mr, Jas. Fal-
coner for low points.
The Red Cross Society held a
quilting at the home of Mrs. Jas. Fal-
coner on Wednesday last.
The annual meeting of Chalmer's
Presbyterian Church was held last
week with , the minister, Rev. A. E.
Wilson, as chairman and Gordon Mc-
Gee as secretary. Reports showed the
year had been a good one, the year
ending with a surplus on hand. The
meeting passed on honourarilirn Hof
$25.00 for the minister. The, new
members to the Board of Managers
are John Simpson, Frank Coulter,
Dawson Craig, Wm. R. Purdon.
Gordon, McGee who has served as
secretary for the past 10 years re-

Presbyterian Church Annual
The Annual Congregatoinal Meet-
ing of Knox Presbyterian Church was
held in the church, conducted. by the
minister, Rev. Samuel Kerr of Brus-
sels. Mrs. R. J, Scott acted as seer&
tary and read the minutes of the last
annual meeting and the financial state-
ment for the year,
Mrs. Joseph Dunbar •reported for
the Women's Missionary Society,
Sunday Schol and Mission Band.
All reports indicated that_ the year
had been a successful one, All allo-
cations were met With a balance to
start a new year,
A letter of thanks was read from
Mrs. A. Porterf4ld for the many ex-
pressions of sympathy extended her in
the death of her husband,
Ross Anderson and Athol Bruce
were appointed to the Board of Man-
agers to replace Morris Leitch and
Alex, Young. James Leitch was en-
gaged as caretaker of the church,
Institute Thanked by Soldiers
The Home Economics meeting of
the Belgtave Women's Institute was
held in the Orange Hall with a good
attendance, ,
The president, Mrs. Earl Anderson,
c.onducted the meeting. The program
was arranged by Mrs. 3, Wheeler and
Mrs, H. Wheeler.
Minutes of the November meeting
were read by the secretary, Mrs. CA,
Procter. The financial report given by
Mrs. 3, M. Coulte,s, showed a sub-
stantial balance.
Letters of thanks were read from

cake sent them at ClitistmaS. Cards'
were sent to sick and shut-ins at

The Sixth Line Farm Forum of E.
Wawanosh met Monday evening at the
home of Telford Cook, with an attend-
ance of 17. Mrs. Geo. Wightman was
in charge of the meeting. Bruce Scott
gave the talk. Arville Taylor was in
charge of the recreational period,
Plans were made for making a survey
of the section. The next meeting will
be held at the home of Orville Taylor
with Charles Smith in charge.,

SHOULD ORDER ORDER SEED
POTATOES NOW
Supplies of Foundation and Founda-
tion A seed for seed potato growers,
and a Certified seed for table stock
growers, are 'being held in 'Canada to
meet estimated domestic demands, the
Dominion Department of Agriculture
states. Export 'demand for Canadian
Certified Foundation A, and Certified
Seed potatoes is ,.however, exceptionally
strong this season, and, the Depart-
inent advises potato growers to order
their 1944 seed potato xequirements
without delay. In fairness to produc-
ers, and iii the interests of the indus-
try, the export of seed potatoes will
be permitted after March 1, while ex-
port markets are still active. •
The main objective of the Seed
Potato Certification Service) states the
Department, is to assist in the pro-
duction of high quality seed for Cana-
dian potato growers, but it is 'essential
that orders should be placed while sup-
plies are still available.
Lists of growers having Certified,
Foundation ' A, or Foundation seed-
potatoes' for sale can be obtained from
the\ Plant Protection Division, Depart-
ment of Agniculture, Ottawa.

days last week visiting friends in Lon-

Miss Bernice Appleby of Kincardine
was a week-end guest with her par-

The many, friends of Miss Jean
Campbell, are pleased to know she is
improving nicely having, undergone a
serious operation in Victoria Hospital,

W,M,S, of the United Church was
held last Thursday at the home of
Mrs, Ezra Seholtz, with Mrs, j,
Gillespie in charge of the meeting,
Mrs. Scholtz read the Scripture lesson
and led in prayer for the missionaries,
Mrs. Farrier had the topic," From
Dawn to Dawn". Mrs, Lott sang-,
"Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", and
Mrs. Schultz read, "A devotional book
for children", and Mrs, Farrier gave-a
piano solo- "Golden Bells", 'The meet- •
ing was closed by prayer by the presi-
dent,
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cameron and
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph CaMeron of Ash-
field, spent'Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Mason Robinson.
Mrs, Mac Ross held a Red Cross
quilting at her home on Tuesday, and
Mrs. Miles McMillan held one at her
home on Thursday last.
Mr. and Mrs. John. T. Currie ale-
brated the sixty-fourth anniversary of
their marriage on 'Wednesday last.
Their daughter, Mrs. Galbraith held a
Wedding dinner that day in their
our with nephews and nieces as guests.
The following attended: Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Currie of Teeswater; Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Currie, Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
Currie, Mrs. Russel Gaunt and Janet,
and Jim, Ken and 'Miss Leah Currie.
At dinner, Mr, Jim Currie gave the
toast to the bride and groom of long
ago. Both Mr. and Mrs. Currie are
in excellent health and all enjoyed the
special, family re-union, Their many
friends in East Wawanosh extend con-
gratulations and best wishes for many
more such happy occasions.
The regular monthly meeting of the
W.M.S. of the Presbyterian church,
was held last Thursday at the,.home of
Mrs. Ezra Welwood with Mrs. Roth:.
Ross presiding. The theme of the
meeting was Prayer, and Mrs. Mc-
Innis read the- Scripture lesson. Mrs.
Ross led in prayer and Mrs, Welwood
led in the devotional period, "Your life
is hid in Christ your Lord", and Miss
Annie Kennedy led in prayer. Mrs.
A. E. Purdon had the topic, "Prayer".
Mrs. Jas. • Laidlaw gave a reading,
"Cancelled Prayer", and Mrs. Robt.
Mowbray had the talk on "Our work
among Hungarians in Canada". The'
meeting *as closed by repeating 'the
Lord's Prayer in unison.

Tiffin were ill for a few .days last
week,

ated with honors from a wireless
school in Calgary and has been trans-
ferred to Jarvis, Ontario. LAC, Jack
Armstrong of Centralia, visited with
his patents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Arm-
strong,
Raised Money for Cigarette Fund
A good crowd attended the euchre
and dance held in the Forester's Hall
in aid of the Overseas Cigarette Fund.
Prizes for high score in the cards
were won by Mrs. Jesse Wheeler and
James Coultes. Prize for a lucky
`Spot Dance' was won by Miss Jean
McCallum and Stewart • Chamney.
Door prizes went to Mrs. Ray Craw-
ford and Alex. McBurney,

Mr. Allan McLean is at present a
patient in Wingham Hospital. Allan's
many friends are glad to know he is
making a satisfactory recovery.
Mrs. Harry Brown spent a day re-
