Huron Pensions. Board Met
The Huron County Old Age Pen-
sions and Mothers' Allowances Board
met Thursday afternoon with the
chairman, William Archibald of Tuck-
ersmith presiding, Others members
present were: John L. McEwan of
Wroxeter, R, J. Bowman of Brussels,
Mrs. N. W, Trewartha, Clinton, and
Mrs. p.„ R. Redditt, Goderich. Six
applications for old age pensions and
one for mother's allowance were dealt
with, and two old age pensioners
were recommended for increases.
Dies Of . Burns
Mary Jane Hanmore, aged resident
of Brant, was fataly burned when
flames from a stove set fire to her
clothing. She is survived by four sons
and four daughters, Andrew O'Neil,
of Walkerton is a brother, — Mild-
may Gazette.
Lost Tip of Finger •
,Mr. Ivan Hilborn met with a most
unfortunate accident while assisting` in
buzzing wood at the farm of William
Kechnie. In some manner his hand
came in contact with the saw, and he
lost the end of, the first finger on his

At the Annual Meeting of. The
Dominion Bank held in Toronto on
Wednesday, the 8th instant, the
Seventy-Third Annual. Statmerit cov-
ering operations for the twelve months
ended. 30th October 'was presented and
approved by the shareholders. ..,
The principal features of the state-
ment were a strong liquid position,
substantially higher deposits and in-
vestments, and a decrease in commerc-
ial loans, with total assets showing an
increase of over $11,000,000 from a
year ago,

The Bank's total investment secur-
ities total $104,767,145., up $17,508,-

A Long' Forgotten Bank Draft
quite recently a bank draft for the
sum of $158,76 was presented at the
local branch of the Bank of Commerce
for payment which made the staff sit,
up and take notice, not that there is
anything unusual about a draft being
presented. for payment but it was
made out by the Bank of Hamilton
and when examined it was found that
it had beeni!,stted on Jan. 9th, 1909,
and was signed for the Milverton
branch' y Mr, R. 5, Ranney, who was
manager at that time, and a Mr, Robb,
wbo was accountant, We are not at
liberty to divulge, the names of the
interested parties but we can say that
it was from a Milverton man to a firm

Coal Car Quickly Emptied
On Thiarsday ,afternoon a sixty-five
ton ear of stove coal arrived for John
McLean, Ripley coal dealer. Long
before daylight on Friday, teams and
trucks began to arrive, to assist in
delivering this precious commodity to
fuel users. Before the noon 'hour had
arrived the car was emptied of its con-
tents.. This was considered a record.
It would require several cars of this
size to supply the need in this dis-
trict,—Kincardine News.
Celebrated 53rd Wedding
Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. John Linklater, highly
'esteemed local residents. celebrated
their fifty-third wedding anniversary,
They were married on November 26th,
1890, at the home of the bride's par-
ents in Turnberry Township, with
Rev. Hector McQuarrie of St. An-
drew's Presbyterian Church, Wing-
ham, officiating. After their marriage
they took up farming in East Wawa-
nosh until 1909 „when they moved to
Wingham. Six years later they took
up residence in. Teeswater, where they
have since resided. To the union was
born one son, Harvey Linklater, now

Changes Ownership
Teeswater has anew undertaker and
furniture dealer in the person of Mr.
W. Gordon Church late of Belmont,
near' London, Mr. Church' has pur-
chased the business and equipment of
R. D. Trench, and took over last week.
He has already moved his wife and
family of three children to. Teeswiter.

Banished Froth Goderich
Goderich's so-called "Jack the Hug-
ger," Sgt. P. Hanna, R.A.F., has been
banished from town for all time as a

Bullet Nearly Hit Bus Passenger
What is thought to have been a
stray bullet pierced the window of a
bus of Western Ontario Motorways as
it Proceded up Saltford hill en route

Trial Against County Postponed
The claim of Jacob Burnstyn, Brus-
sels trucker, for $10,000 general, and

$819 specific damages against the'
County of Huron, scheduled for hear-
ing in Supreme Court, has been post-
poned until the next court. The action
arises out of the collapse of the Cun-
ningham Bridge, between Brussels
and Ethel, which allegedly fell into the
Maitland River as Burnstyn was driv-
ing across it with a load of produce.
The bridge has been replaced with a
new one.
