Miss Marie Sparling had. the mis-
fortune to break the big bone in her
left wrist on Sunday last, when with
her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos.
Moore.
Mrs. Roy Patten of St. Georges,
spent the week-end with her mother,
Mrs. A. Fox.
Mr. George Alexander has been in
Wirigharn Hospital for the past two
weeks and has been seriously ill. Miss
Tillie Alexander has been a visitor
with friends in Wingham.
Mr. and Mrs, Russel Farrier and
daughter, Marian of Preston, spent the
week-end with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. R. Farrier.
Rev. Henry Martin of Cliapleau,
spent the week-end with his mother,
Mrs, Wm. Martin and his son, Donald
Martin, with the Dental Corps at To-
ronto, also spent the week-end with
relatives here.
Quite a number of the ladies of the
W.M.S. of the United Church attended
the summer meeting of the St. Helens
W.M.S. on Thursday last, when Mrs.
Howse of Lucknow was the special
speaker for the day, and gave' a very
interesting account of the history and
church work in her native land, New-
foundland. The ladies of the local
group assisted with the program.
Rev. W. J. Watt was in charge of
the services in the United Church here
and at St. Helens United Church on
Sunday, Rev. G. A, Ward has had
another operation on his face during
his holidays.

tack of measles.
Mr. T. H, Moore lost two of his
horses one day last week when they
got out on the road, He got them at
Dave Eadia's at Glenannan,
Mr. Aldin Purdon has the misfor-
tune to lose the youngest fo his grey
team on Friday last, He was cutting
hay when be noticed something was
wrong. He got it under a tree and
unhitched, but it soon died.
Mr. Geotge Ross of Owen Sound is
spending his holidays with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Robert Ross.
Mrs. Sproul of Wroxeter, Mr, and
Mrs. Earle Sproul of Exeter, and Miss
Bigelow and Mr. George Sproule of
Detroit, visited on 'Friday with the
former's brother, Mr. Richard Terriff
at the Pottle of Mr, and Mrs. Mar.
Ross. Mr, Terriff left for his home
in Toronto on Saturday.
Trooper Bob Ross is spending a ten-
day furlough with his parents, Mr. and

Seriously Injured
While assisting with the haying
operations at' his home on Saturday
afternoon, Mr. Albert Heibein received
serious injuries when he fell from the
hay mow to the barn floor, a distance
of some 20 feet, striking a rack before
reaching the floor. He received a
badly broken collar bone, two broken
ribs as well as concussion. He was
rushed to Listowel Hospital. His con-
dition was such he was able to be
brought to his home on iMonda:y.

Wightman. Family Re-union
Sixty-five descendants of Henry
and James Wightman, East Wawa-
nosh, met at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
George Wightrnan, 6th concession,
formerly the home, of Henry Wight-
man, where a very pleasant afternoon
was spent, Attending from a distance
were Mrs. Harry Hyde of Edmonton,
Alta., and Mrs, Edmund' Sackrider, of
New Liskeard. The afternoon was,
spent in games and conversation.
Lunch was served on the lawn.
Former Pastor Passes
Rev. Colson Graham Jones• of Elm-
vale, former pastor of Belgrave and
Calvin Presbyterian churches,. died, in
Christie Street Hospital, T'oronto.
Surviving are his wife, one son and
four daughters, Donald, Phyllis, Betty,
Nora and Gwen, Mr. Jones came to
Belgrave shortly after the last war„
of which he was a veteran and, remain-
ed until shortly before church union,
Burial took place in Elinvale Ceme-
tery,
