Guild Named Officers
t Mrs. R. McCrea was elected presi-
dent of Trinity Anglican Church Guild
at the annual meeting held at her
home. The rector, Rev.. P. H. Street-
er opened the meeting with a short
devotional service. The business per-
iod was. conducted by the president,
Mrs. J. McGill. Minutes of the last
meeting were read by the secretary,
Mrs. R. Procter, and the auditors re-
port was given by Mrs. William
Brydges. 'One special Missionary
meeting was held during the year at
which an offering of over $7.00 was
received. Holiday bells will he dis-
tributed again for 1943 and the Birth-
day copper contest will be congested
as a special means of raising money.
It was decided' to have short social
programs at each meeting this year.
Mr. Streeter conducted the election of

new members were added to the roll.
The secretary was authorized to make
application for a charter. A program

"My Religion." Mrs. Athol Bruce red

a hymn and the Lord's Prayer repeat-
ed in unison. Lunch was served.
- W. M. S. Officers Installed
Knox United Women's Missionary
Society and Women's Association met
in regular session in the church base-
ment. The .Missionary meeting was
opened by the president, Mrs J.
Wheeler who conducted the business.
'Minutes of the last meeting and a re-
port of the years activities were read
by the ,secretary, Mrs. G. Martin. 11
meetings were held during the year
with an average attendance of 19.
Three of the meetings were at the
homes of members, The Auxiliary
was also entertained by the Donny-
brook and Brick Auxiliaries. One
member died during the year and one
life member moved away.
A quilting will be held on Thurs-
day, January '14th, at- the home of
Mrs. T..B. Johnston; followed by a
pot luck supper, The treasurer re-
ported $130.00 sent to the Presbyterial
treasurer.
Mrs. R. Chamney read the temper-
ance clip sheet and was assisted by
several members in a prepared quest-
ionaire. The 1943 officers were in-
stalled and prayer offered by the presi-
dent, Greetings were read from Rev.
and Mrs. Toweiend of Princeton, and
Mrs. J. Anderson of Brussels:
Mrs. S. Procter conducted the wor-
ship service, based on the theme
"Reaching every person with Christ-
ian teaching." Here again several
members took part in reading and re-
sponure prayers. Mrs. Earl Ander-
son gave the chapter on Education
from the book, The Church hr the city
tsreets, and followed with a questinn-
aire leant the same,
Mrs. J. Miller and •MrS. R. Nichol-
son were appointed to conduct the
worship service at the next meeting.
The meeting closed with prayer.
after which the Women's Association
meeting was held, opened by the presi-
dent, Mrs. S. Procter, with a hymn
and prayer.
Minutes and the yearly financial
statement were read, Holiday bells
which added over $80.00 to the treas-
ury will be used again for 1943. •
$25.00 was donated to the Sunday
School. The two organizations decid-
ed to continue holding joint meetings.
The roll call was responded to with
payment .of fees, Plans were made
for the annual congregational,meeting
to be held on Tuesday, January 26th.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Martin. Dur-
ing the evening they were called to
the front, and Miss Lucille read an
address and they were presented with
two occasional chairs and an end
table.* The groom thanked them for
their kindness, and for the beatitiful
gifts. The evening was spent in cards
and dancing with local men supply-
ing the music.
Miss Isabel Phillips of W. Wawan
osh, spent a few days last week at the
home of Mr, and Mrs. Henry McGee.
Mr. Wm.. Kinnihan of W. Wawan-
osh was severely trampled by a horse
on Saturday and is in a very serious
condition.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Inglis have mov-
ed to Sarnia where Jack is driving a
truck at the new factory there.
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Farrier visited
on Friday at the home of her sister,
Mrs. Sam Reid of Ashfield. Miss
Lorna Reid left on 'Monday to train
for a nurse in Guelph General Hos-
pital.
Pte. Athol Purdon of Camp Borden
and Mrs. Purdon and little daughter
of Wiigham, spent the week-end with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Pur-
don.
This community regrets the passing
of Mrs. J. F. Davidson on Saturday.
She was beloved by all who knew her
and had made many friends in• this
community who extend sympathy to
her bereaved husband and family.
Among those who spent the week-end
at the Davidson home were: L. A. C.
James Weir, and his wife of London;
the late Mrs, Davidson's two sisters,
Mrs. Mclllwain of Clifford and Mrs.
John Mitchell of Winghatn, also her
niece, Mrs. Inglis of Clifford.
Two farm fortuns were held in East
Wawanosh on Monday evening, with
an average attendance of 16. One was
held at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Jas.
Falconer and one at the home of Mr.
Alec Robertson. The latter forum
organized with Mr. Leslie Wightman
as secretary, and the meeting next
Monday night will be held at his home.
While the meeting in S. S. No. 14,
will be held at J. D. Beecroft's. In-
teresting discussions were held at
each meeting after hearing the talk an
the radio. Lunch was served and a
recreational period enjoyed Eby all. All
are invited to attend the forum in your
community next Monday evening.

week, and little hope is held for his

Home and School Association Re-
Organized at S.S. No. 5, Morris
On Wednesday evening, January 6,
the parents and people of the section
met at the school with the children,
Miss Golley, and Miss Morritt from
Stratford Normal School, who was do-
ing practite teaching at the school dur-
ing the week, to re-organize their
Home and School Club. The evening
was spent in games and social chat.
Miss Golley outlined the programmes
for the year. Each month a school
subject is to be the theme of the meet-
ing. The course in that particular sub-
ject will be explained, and carried out
in the programme. The election of
officers took place with Mrs. Earl
Anderson acting as temporary secre-
tary. The officers resulted as follows:
President, James Michie; Vice-Pres.,
Mrs. Gordon Walsh; Secretary, Earl
Anderson; Assistant Secretary, Bob.
Grasby; Refreshment Committee, Jos.
Holmes and Mrs, H. Tenney; Pro-
gram Committee, Amy Smith, Mrs. J.
Michie and Mrs. Wm, VanCamn. For-
lowing the election a Quiz game was
played with Mrs. Gordon Walsh and
Mrs. Howard Clark as leaders. Mrs.
Clark's team won.
At the conclusion of the programme
apples were served by the girls. The
National Anthem brought the meeting
to a close. The next meeting will be
held on Monday evening, February 1,

The ratepayers of school section 8,
East Wawanosh held their annual
meeting with Walter Scott as 'chair
man, Percy McLean was appointed
secretary of the meeting, 'The audi-
tors' report was given by Alex Mc-
Bentley. Athol Bruce was appointed
ratepayers auditor for 1943. The trus-
tees are Mrs. R, J. Scott, Walter
Scott and. Harold Cook. Caretaker,
