They must forward with their reports the number of butter coupons representing their butter holdings. If the quan lily of butter in possession of such persons represents more than the eleven brown coupons in. Ration Book No. 1, which will be good for butter, they must in their reports undertake to detach from future ration books, additional butter coupons equal to the remainder of the surplus. Ottawa, December 21, 1942 EFFECTIVE NOW UTTE IS RATIONED BY COUPON The ration is one-Ilan pound of butter per person, per week. On and after December 21st it is unlawful to sell or buy butter at retail without the surrender of the proper coupons. Brown coupons, Nos. 1 to 11, "Spare 'C' " from Ration Book Number 1 now in the hands of the public, are to be used for this purpose. Each .Brown coupon, Nos. 1 to 11, "Spare 'C' " entitles the holder to buy one week's supply. Only Brown coupons, Nos. 1 to 11 "Spare 'C' " can be used for the purchase of butter. Each coupon becomes good on a definite date and expire's on a definite date . . . and can be ttged only within its prescribed period, as given below. The system for butter is different from that apply- ing to Sugar, Coffee and Tea, where coupons have no specified expiry date. (Continued from page one) A native of Huron County, he was borh April 2nd, 1861, in the Township of Tuckersmith. He lived on the farm until lie was 26 years old when he went to Australia as a book agent. He travelled to Australia by way of the West and the Pacific and three years later, 1890, he returned home the opposite way by England and the Atlantic, thus having travelled com- pletely around the world. After returning from Australia he attended a business course and in 1890 was appointed an agent for the Mutual Life Assurance Company; He has been a Citizen of Wingham for 44 years having come here from Eg- mondville in 1898 as a Mutual Life and Real Estate agent. a 1907 he formed a partnership with John Ritch- ie which lasted until Mr. Ritchie's death in 1919. He carried on the business 'himself until 1935 when he formed a partnership with Flying Of- ficer W, T. Booth, who several years before this had taken over the Life Insurance end of the business., • He was twice married, first in 1891 to Emily Cosens who died in 1918. His second wife, whom he married in 1920, and who survives as his widow, was the former Sarah F. Turner, of Clinton, He is also survived by a daughter, Dr. Mary Cosens of the Provincial Department of Health. The funeral service was held in Wingham Baptist Church on Friday afternoon and was attended by a large congregation, The service was Con- ducted by Rev. „John Lucas, pastor of the church, and assisting with the service were Rev. W. A, Beecroft of the United Church and Rev, Kenneth MacLean, of St, Andrew's Presbyter- ian Church, Burial, 'took place in the Wingham Cemetery. The pallbearers were R, H. Lloyd, W. H. French, P. Sturdy The death of a' former Wingham. resident, John G. Sturdy, occurred at his late residence, Kirkland Lake, on Tuesday, December 15th. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm Sturdy'who at one time lived on ,Min= nie• Street. He was born at Auburn and was 51 years of age, He was an employee of the Western Foundry when he lived here. Mr. Frank Sturdy of town, at present with the Small Arms Factory at Long Branch, is a brother, He is also survived by his wife and three daughters. Burial took place in Windsor on Saturday.
