PERCY BIGGS NOW
A PILOT OFFICER,
Another Wingham boy has been
honoured with a commission in the
R. C, A. F. He is Percy Biggs, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Biggs, Lower
Wingham. Last week Percy gradu-
ated at the top of the class at Moss-
bank, Sask., in a bomb and 'gunnery
course. A month prior to that he
headed the class at Winnipeg in the
wireless course, On graduation 'at
Mossbank he was given the rank of
Sergeant and proceeded home on leave.
While here he was notified that he .
had been granted his commission, On
behalf of this community we extend
congratulations. Percy left on Tues-
day.
Reeve Raymond R, Redmond of
East.Wawanosh, when he was accord-
ed an acclamation on Friday, stated
that he was throwing his hat into the
ring in the wardenship race. Two
years ago he contested this office and
made a remarkable showing for a man
who has but two years experience in
the county council, Since that time
he has been a member of the road
committee and was this year chair-
man.
Reeve Redmond was first elected to
the East Wawanosh council in 1982
and he, sat on the council board in
1933. He was out of the council in
1934-35 as he lost out in a race for
reeve. Since that time he has been
on council three years as a councillor
and four as reeve. •
Alex F. MacDonald of Ashfield is
in the race for the position of warden
and there is some talk of Reeve Ben
Tuckey entering the contest.
Raymond has a host of friends in
this district that wish him success,

No Trace Of Missing Plane
No trace has been found of the
Avro-Anson plane that has been miss-
ing since Saturday night from its base
at Port Albert. Many planes have
conducted a search but to no avail.
Four of a crew mere with the plane
and it is said by the staff at Port
Albert that it must be within sixty
miles of the station. Oil was seen
on the water south of Goderich, but
investigation failed to discover any
clue. It is now thought that the plane
must have .gone down in the lake.

valuable to the town and we have now
the highways equipment housed here.
Snow plows start out from here which
is a big advantage.
The finances are much better than
for 15 or 20 years. Nine years ago
when I entered council, he said the
debenture debit was $127,000 while to-
clay it is $35,000. In 1943 it will drop
to $12,000 and after 1934 to 82056, ti.n
two years will amount to about $1000
or ,about equal to 1 mill. During this
period all services have been maintain-

value, he said, and will be better when
taxes are lowered. There has been a
