Howes. St James Fowi Supper There was a large crowd in attend- ance on Thursday night at St James Anglican Church Fowl Supper in spite of unfavorable weather. Supper was served in the church school room, con- sisting of turkey, goose, chicken, vege- tables, sadads ,jellies, rolls, desert and tea. A concert in the Town Hall fol- lowed.- Res-. E. M. Caldwell was the chairman, and opened by "0 Canada" sung by all, Solos were given by Miss Thelma Denny and Rev. J. L. Foster. Readings by Mrs. D. S. MacNiaughton; piano duets by Eleanor Carson and Doris Hemingway, Gorrie; violitt and piano music by Mrs. F. Xing, Gotrie, and Mn J. Gamble, troedwich. Cont- munity singing was condacted by the chairman. Local talent were assisted tar ;Mrs. Stpanhetz ,organist of the Anglican Church, Mount Forest, also Mr. F. Quadrelle, band master of Mt. Forest band, the former giving two piano solos, also acconmaning Mr. Quatrelle in two in two fine trumpet solos. Garniss opened her home for the monthly meeting of the Wo- men's Institute. Although the weather was unfavorable there was a good at- tendance of members arid six visitors. The president, Miss Jean Elliott, presided. The roll call was answered with a suggestion on how to spend the winter evenings. Knitting, sew- ing, reading and finishing up odd jobs left over from the busy summer raontha were some of the suggestions. Arrangements were made to send box- es to local boys overseas, to reach them after the Christmas season. Mrs. I. H. Smith and Miss Jean Elliott will be in charge. A special collection was arranged to be taken at the December meeting for the Central War Charities Fund, This fund is responsible for sending seeds to Britain and also plans to provide a mobile kitchen for use in Canada, if the need arises, at a cost of about $6,000. A resolution front the National Health League of Canada was endors- ed. The report of the girls' session at the Kitchener area convention was presented by Miss Jean Elliott, Mfos Elliott presided over this part of the session. Remembrance Was Theme The services in the United Church on Sunday were in keeping with Re- membrance Day. At the morning service Rev. C. Tavener sppke from Hebrews 11-13—"These all died in faith, not having received the promis- es". The choir led in the singing of Kiplings Recessional. During the Sunday School hour Delores Hamilton recited "In Flanders Fields" and Mrs, Earl Hamilton, the Temperance secretary read an 18th century poem, "The Two Glasses." Young People Had Charge of Service The evening service at the United Church was in charge of the Young People. The president, Fleming John- ston, presided. The scripture lesson was read by Helen Thomson and Mrs. Tavener offered a prayer of Thanks- giving that the church hells in the Old Land have again tolled. Mrs. George Thomson told the story of Dunkirk from the book, "The Blue Goose." A Junior Choir sang, "Was that Somebody Your The Y. P. Club at Ebenezer held the. annual Bazaar this past week and al- though a regular blizzard was raging there was a good attendance and every thing sold well. Afternoon tea was served. The proceeds amounted to. over $70.00, Had Eye Operation William Souch, of the 3rd conces- sion of Morris township, is a patient in the Kitchener -Waterloo Hospital, having an operation performed on his eye.
