All persons having claims against
the estates of Sarah Doubledee, Mar-
ried Woman, and George William
Dotibledee, both of the Town of Wing-
barn, in the County of Huron, deceas-
ed, who died on the 12th day of April,
1942, and the 11th day of August, A.
D. 1942, respectively, are notified to
send to J. H, Crawford, Wingham, On-
tario, on or before the second clay of
October, A.D. 1942, full particulars of
their claims in writing. Immediately
after the said second day of October,
the assets of the said testators will be
distributed amongst the partieS entit-

BELGRAVE
Homemaking Clubs Competed at
Stratford
Wednesday, September 23rd, thirty-
five homemaking club girls front Hur-
on, Perth and Oxford, attended Strat-
ford Fair and participated in the
Homemaking Club exhibit, Judging
and Demonstrations. Each County
had its own courses in which to part-
icipate, The club girls spent the
morning judging their own classes.
The afternoon program. consisted of
demonstrations and talks on -club ex-
hibits. The girls from Huron took
part in the projects, "The Club Girl
Stands on Guard", Clothes Closets up
to Date" and "The -Garden Brigade."
Prizes were awarded on the group
system. The first prize group •con-
sisted of all contestants who `attained
80% on club work who have complet-
ed three homemaking clubs and at-
tended 75% of club meetings. The
second prize group consisted of all
who attained 70% on club work, who
completed• at least two homemaking
clubs and attended 75% of club feet-
ings.
The third prize group consisted of
all who attained 60% on club work,
who completed at least one homemak-
ing club and attended 60% of club
meetings. The prizes in the Demon-
strations went to Avonton, Club for
"The Cereal Shelf." Oxford Club on
the well planned wardrobe, Bluevale
Club on The National Pantry Shelf,
,Hurondale Club -on Clothes Closets
up-to-date.
The prizes for ,club exhibits went
to Oxford for "The well planned
summer wardrobe." Perth for "The
Cereal Shelf; Hurondale for "Clothes
Closets Up-To-Date; Belgrave for
"Health."

from. Bluevale, May Frisby, Jean Hall,
Laura Yuill, Velma Cook from Bel-
grave, took part.
Boxes For Soldiers
The Red Cross Society ' met in
monthly -business session on Friday
with the president, C. R. Coultes in
charge. A hymn was sung and the
Red Cross prayer repeated in unison.
Letters of thanks for boxes received
were read from Bert Garness, Roy
Pierce, Terry Gallagher, Thomas
Thompson and Norman Young.
It was decided to send Christmas
boxes to all local boys on active serv-
ice 'both overseas and in Canada. Mrs.
G, Walsh heads the committee for
packing the overseas boxes and Mrs.
N. Keating the committee for packing
Canadian boxes. Enlistment gifts of
one sweater and two pair of socks ,are
to be given all those who have not al-
ready' received them. The meeting
closed with God Save The King, after
which eleven quilts were packed for
shipment to Toronto.

daughter Mary, of Seaforth, spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Alex Port-
erfield,
Mrs, Lyle Hopper spent a few days
with her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Alcock
of Brussels.

Special Services At Anglican Church
Harvest Home Services were held
Sunday in Trinity Anglican. Church
with 'large crowds and inspiring tries-
sages of word and Song, The church
was decorated with flowers and fruit
of the harvest and presented a pleas-
ing setting for the splendid ServiceS.
Rev. John Grahattif of hayfield cony
ducted the morning seritice,- preaching
frcim the text, Cast thy bread upon
the waters, for thou shalt find it after
many days. The church -choir sang-
an anthem, In the evening Rev. B. 0,
Gallagher of Wingham was the speak-
er, and 'was assisted by Lay Leader,
C. A, Roberts of Wirigham, and the
choir of St. Paul's church, Winghani
under the 'direction of Roy Mundy.
The address was based on the words,
"He that goeth forth and weepeth,
bearing precious seed, shall doubtless
coem again with rejoicing, bringing
his sheaves with him." The choir
sang two Thanksgiving -anthems,
Sunday School Held Rally Day
Rally Day Service was held in the
Presbyterian Sunday School. Rev,
Hugh Jack of Seaforth conducted the
church service, speaking from the
words from St, Luke, "Master we
have taken onthing," .Daring the ser-

Wingham Man Preached
Mr, Harry Hopper of Wingham,
conducted services in Brick and Bel-
grave United Churches Sunday morn-
ing, taking as his text "To what pur-
pose is this waste," Rally Day serv-
ice was held in the Sunday School,
Anniversary services will be held in
Belgrave United Church next Sunday,
October 4 at 11 a.m. and 7x30 p.m.,
with Rev. H. Snell of Ethel, guest
speaker.
Reeve Raymond Redmond of East
Wawanosh, Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Port-
erfield and Mr, and Mrs, 'Harvey Mc-
Gee, were guests at the opening of
the new airport at Centralia.

into the village last week, having per-
chased the. home of Mrs. Robert

out of doors, the flower committee,
Mrs. J. Adams and Mrs. 5. Douglas
had made the chancel very bright and
cheerful with an attractive arrange-
ment of late summer flowers, The
music was under the direction of Mr.
G. A. Wearring with Miss Mary Gib-
son as organist. Nearer My God To
Thee, were the words of the morning
anthem while Miss Mary MacDonald
was soloist, singing 0 Lord Be Thou
My Light. Rev, John Johnston of
Fordwich was guest speaker, and
spoke from the text, Then beware lest
thou forget 'the Lord, Duet. cli. 6:12.
In the evening Rev. Arthur Hewitt of
Behnore was guest speaker, taking for
his text, The Kingdom of Heaven is
like unto treasure hid in a field, St.
Matthew ch. 13 verse 44. The words
of the anthem, The King of Love My
Shepherd is, with Miss Thelma Denny
taking the solo and with Mr., Vernon
Hupher also the duet. Mr. Austin
Stinson of Fordwich was present and
favored with a solo, Not Understood.
Rev. J. L. Foster was present in the
evening and spoke words of apprecia-
tion to all those who had contributed
to the success of this special day, A

C. G. I. T. Surprise Party
A delightful party was given at the
Manse, home of Rev. J. L. and Mrs.
Foster on Friday evening, when the
members of the Canadian Girls in
training gathered in honour of Mrs.
Wilford Travis (nee Marjory Foster)
who was recently married, Miss Alice
Howes read an address and the bride
was presented with a pantry shower.
Games were enjoyed, the members
serving refreshments. Mrs. Travis,
expressed her deep appreciation to the q. girls.
RED CROSS NOTES
Donations For Ditty Bags
The local Red Cross Society have
undertaken to supply 12 Ditty Bags
which are to be given to the sailors
for Christmas gifts, and would be
grateful for gifts of money from any-
one in the community, Gifts may be"
left at Red Cross work room on Wed-
nesday afternoon's of each week or
with the treasurer, Mr, W, A, Saw-
tell. These bags will be made by the
local workers and filled with woollens,
toilet articles, a book or game and
many small articles which will give-
pleasure and comfort. Remember the
boys of the navy by giving a cash
donation. ,The completed bags must
be shipped by October 15th. '

Cross Booth at the Howick Fair, be-
ing held at Fordwich Saturday of this-
weck, October 3rd.
