Gave Paper On Bluevale
Mrs. George Love was hostess this
week for the monthly meeting of the.
Woman's Institute. The president,
Miss Jean Elliott, presided. Miss
Mary Duff, convener for Historical
Research and Current Events was in
charge of the program and gave a fine
paper on these topics. Temperance
and Health were two of the subjects
mentioned in Current Events and
items of historic interest were told of
the recent gathering in the township
of Wawanosh — the towns of Weston
and Beaton.
The Roll was answered by giving
a "My First Recollection of 13luevale,"
Some of these pictured the present
village while others dated back many
years.
Mrs, Joseph Breckenridge' gave a

Suffered Stroke
James Jamieson, a farmer on the 9th
concession of East Wawanosh, was
stricken with a paralytic stroke as he
was doing the evening chores in his
stable. He was taken to Wingham.
Hospital were he is in a critical con-
dition. Mr. Jamieson is about seventy

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wightman
and family of Welland, who have spent
the past month with relatives, have re-
turned home.
Mr. Tony A. Nicol of Temple City,
Cal., spent a few days last week with
his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Jno.
W. Mason, Belgrave. This was Mr.
Nicol's first visit home since he went
to California in November 1919. He
was pleased to be able to meet so
many of his friends, relatives and old
schol chums during his short visit at

Rev. A. L. Budge D.L., Hamilton,
has spent ten days at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Jno. W, Mason, Belgrave.
Mrs. Young of Brussels and her son
L.A.C. Archie Young of Belleville,
spent Saturday at the home of her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Jno. W. Mason.

Young People To Conduct Service
Rev, S. Kerr, of Brussels, occupied
the pulpit in Knox Presbyterian
Church on Sunday. The subject of
his sermon being 'The Second Chance'
from the life of John Mark. Members
of the Young People's Society will
have charge of the service next Sun-
day. Special music is being prepared
under the direction of Mrs. Donald
Robertson.
Young Men Conduct Service
The Young People's Union of the
United Church .had charge of the reg-
ular Sunday morning service. The
service. throughout was conducted by
Fleming Johnston, the president of the
society and the secretary, George
Thomson.
Threshing Mathine Sold
The separator belonging to the
threshing outfit of the late James
Thynne has been sold to a firm near
Dublin. Mr. Thynne had operated a
threshing machine for over fifty years
in this community and the service will
be missed by many farmers.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerrond Duff and
daughter, Jane, of Welland, spent the
week-end with their aunts, the Misses
Mary and Ruby Duff and Mrs. M. L.
Aitken. Mr. and rMrs. Thos. Field of
Teeswater were Sunday guests also.
Miss Dorothy Aitken has returned
home after attending the Western
University at London for a six weeks'
course.

James Sims Honored By Blyth
Residents
After a life time spent in this dis-
trict as a blacksmith and proprietor of
grocery store, James Sims left here on
Monday' to reside in Seaforth with his
daughter.
Mr. Sims came here when only a
few months old. After his school days
were over he learned the-blacksmithing
trade from his father. Some years
later he started in. the grocery and
confectionery business, selling out only
recently. He was one of the oldest
businessmen in town.
Blyth citizens presented him with an
address expressing their appreciation
of his services to the community, and
an easy chair smoking set along with
a box of cigars.
Miss Georgina McMichael and Miss
Francis Powell, spent last week with
the former's sister, Mrs. Ed. Stafford
and Mr. Stafford in Port Burwell.
Miss Gertrude Bush was a Sunday
guests at the home of her sister, Mrs.
W. E. Weir.
Rev, Mr. Kyte of Tilsonburg, was
the guest speaker for the afternoon.
