ters, Lilian and Ella of Goderich,
spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Har-
old Walker, E. Wawanosh.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Paterson and
son, and Miss Hazel Walters, of De-
troit, spent the week-end with his
father, Mr. and Mrs. F. McK. Pater-
son and Mr. and Mrs. Mundell and
Ruth and Marilyn and Miss Lillian
Paterson of Ayr have been visiting
there for two weeks.
The young people of the Presbyter-
ian Church here had charge of the
service on Sunday morning. Mr.
James Wilson, president, was in the
chair. Mrs. Cecil Falconer read the
Scripture Lesson, and Mrs. John Mc-
Intyre led in prayer. Miss Annie
Kennedy had charge of the meditation
period and Mr. Wilson gave the ad-
dress, and Mrs. Robt. Ross and Mrs.
Jas. Laidlaw sang a duet.
Miss Dorothy Hollan of Kitchener
issepnding a few weeks of her holi-
days with Mr, and Mrs. John McGee.
Misses Winnifred and Olive Farrier
are visiting this week with Mrs. Lorne
Johnston, Cedar Valley.

Threshing is the order of the day.
The farmers are hoping for fine weath-
er so they can harvest their crops in
good condition.
A family gathering was held on
Monday afternoon and evening at the
Home of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Camp-
bell, where 38 relatives and 'friends
spent an enjoyable time. The young
folk spent the time in playing games
while the rest enjoyed the social visit.

more, N. C., spent a few days last
week with her mother, Mrs. Jas, Mac-
Gregor and Mr. and Mrs. Will Shaw
and Shirley and Mrs. Brayford, of
Toronto spent the week-end there,

charge of the services in Walton
United Church on Sunday,
Miss Marian Busehlen of Toronto,
has been visiting at the home of her
uncle, Mr. F. Melt, Paterson.
Three car loads of ladies motored
to St, Helens last Thursday to attend
the regular monthly meeting of the
Women's Institute there. Mrs. Ezra
Schnitz gave a piano solo, Mrs, Robt.
Mowbray and Mrs. Robt, Ross gave
interesting readings, and all listened
with interest to an address by Mr.
Jas, Shearer of Clinton, Lunch was
served and a social half-hour enjoyed
by all.
Pte, Irwin McClenaghan of Kitch-
ener spent tile week-end at his home
here.
Mr. Albert Taylor of the Signal
Corps, at Petawawa Camp, spent the
week-end with his wife and daughter
here.
Mr. Jas. Morrison went through an
operation in St. Joseph's Hospital at
Toronto on Thursday last, and -has
been progressing favourabli.
Mr. and Mrs. Alec Coutts, Wing-
ham, were recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Robt. Ross. ,
Mr. Clarence Cox will not be chop-
ping for the next two weeks. His en-
gine needed repairs and he has taken
the head off it, and sent it to Toron-
to.
P. 0. Richard Irwin left on Wed-
nesday to report in Yarmorith, N. S.,
after a two weeks furlough.
Miss Maxine Reed of Listowel is
visiting with Mrs. J. G. Gillespie.
Miss Elsie Patterson of Auburn is
visiting witr her aunt, Mrs. Clarence
Cox.
Miss Barbara and Jim Gaunt of
of Marnoch are holidaying with their
grandmother, Mrs. Fred Dividson.
Mrs. Athol Purdon and Betty Anne
and. Mrs. Hector Purdon, who have
been with their husbands at Peter-
borough, are spending this week with
Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Falconer.
Mrs. Mitchell of Wingham and Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Davidson spent a day
last week at the home of Mr. Thos.
Inglis of Clifford,
Mrs. Jas, Hardy, Turnberry, spent
the week-end with her sister, Mrs.
Greg Shiell,' and other relatives here,
and Master Donald Miller of Wood-
stock has been visiting with Elmer
Shiell for two weeks.
The regular monthly meeting of the
W,M.S. of the Cnited Church will be
held at the home of Mrs. J. D. Bee-
croft on Thursday next.
Miss June Irwin and (Miss Edna
Yohann of Toronto, spent the week-
end with the fornier's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. ,Herson Irwin, who, with their
family visited on Sunday at the home
of her brother, Mr. Joe Thompson of
Listowel.
Miss Helen Thompson left on Sun-
day for Victoria Hospital after a three
weeks holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Falconer and Lois
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Calvert
Falconer of Blyth on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Waddell and
son Kenneth of Timmins, are holiday-
ing at the home of his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Waddell.
Miss Karen and Master Billie Byers
and Miss Eida Caslick, all of London,
spent the past two weeks with the Tat-
ters parents, Mr, and Mrs. Earle Cas-
lick, Culross.
Mr. and Mrs. George Mowatt and

Brussels Minister Preached
Rev, S. Kerr. of Brussels occupied
the ,pulpit in Knox Presbyterian
Church and spoke on the character-
istic of Mary, Martha and Lazerus,
and the friendship that existed be-
tween them and Christ. Mr. Kerr will
preach again next Sunday,
Held Home Helpers Meeting
The annual Home Helpers Wo-
man's Missionary Society meeting was
held at the Presbyterian manse this
week. The Home Helpers secretary,
Miss Olive Scott presided and opened
the meeting with reading a poem en-
titled "Our Best". Prayer was offered
by Mrs. R. F. Garniss and Mrs, Harv-
ey Robertson read the "Glad Tidings"
prayer._ A beautiful "Home Helpers"
message was given by Mrs, F. G.
Fowler showing that this department
of W.M,S. work has a special part
to play. A portion of the afternoon
was spent working on a Mission Band
quilt. Lunch was served,
Injured Moving Colony House
While Moving a colony house on
his farm, on Friday afternoon, Henry
Branton suffered severe injuries. The
biulding was on skids being drawn by
horses, the teams started unexpectedly
throwing Mr. l3ianton down in the
path of the moving building which
went over his body. Men who were
assisting with the work succeeded in
raising the building and releasing the
body but not .before he was terribly
bruised, Medical attention was quick-
ly summoned and he •is resting as well
as can be expected.

Mrs. H. G. Newman and Miss Doris
Newman of Harriston; Mrs. Gordon
Gibson and two sons, and Mrs. Jim
Gibson, of Drew; Mrs. Hazelwood of
Guelph, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Williamson of Mount Forest.
Miss M. A. Ellis of Hensall, is the
guest of her friend, Mrs. M. L. Aitken.
Mrs. Boyde of Toronto is visiting
her brother and sister, John and Miss
Bella Kirton, also Mrs. Laura Kirton,
She is accompanied by Miss Hattie
Ratz of Toronto.
A. K. Jackson, Calgary, Alta., called
on friends in the village this week.
Rev. A. V. Robb, Mrs. Robb and
daughter of Canilachie, visited this
week with Mrs. Robb's cousin, Miss
Myra Halliday at the home of Mrs.
Alex McEwen, 1st concession Morris.
Mrs. Alex McEwen is a patient in
Victoria Hospital, London.
Miss Louie Patton is visiting at the
home of Rev, A, V. Robb and Mrs,
Robb at Canilachie.

and son, Mrs. M A. Morrisori and
son John of Mount. Forest, spent Sun-
day with Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Garniss,
The United Church parsonage is re-
ceiving a coat of paint. H. L. Stewart
is doing the work.
