Our weater is not always what we enjoy.
Most of us are prone to complain when it is
not to our Liking. Slippery conditons scare
us wheSher we be predestrians or drivers.
How fortunate we really are that the
weekend weather conditions did not
develop into the disastrous twister that
leveled homes, claimed five lives and
caused millions of dollirs in property
damage in Norther Louisiana and souther
Arkansas. We should stop complaining
about cold, snow and poor driving
conditions and be thankful thatme seldom
if ever, suffer such devestating
destruction.

Everyone is in a hurry these days,
rushing here and there in frantic
preparations for Christmas. If you are
travelling around take time to be careful.
Drive defensively. Be prepared for the
unexpected. Anticipate-the worst and be p
repttred to act. That is the best way to avoid
accidents and make sure you will be home
to enjoy Christihas with your family.

There was a published report that in
the Kitchener-Waterloo area women get
die short end of the stick \when buying a
car, or having repairs done. According
two studies by Wilfred Laurier University
students women are quoted as much as
$110 more than men for car repairs. They
are also ripped off in buying used cars:
They are qu-oted from $100 to $400 ,more
than men. In 50 per cent ,of the cases
women were quoted more. Female drivers
visited garages first. Later men took the
same cars to the same garages. That is
blatant discrimination against the fair sex.
We are pleased that we do not live in the
K-W area. Certainly, we are sure, the
garages in this area would never stoop to
such 'ungallant business behaviour.

This is a season of the year when
people often receive unsolicited goods in
the mail. Such things are not your
responsibility. If you did not order them
you do not have to pay for them. Yoirliia:r:
keep them, destroy them, or return them at'
the sender's expense. This is also .a tirifwtir
beware of fund-raising schemes. Quick
buck artists compete with honest fund
raisers. Be sure money you donate is going
to the needy.
