years experience in the bus-
iness and a long list of com-

been elected President of the
more than 550 member

paper Association.
Ian A. MacKenzie, 54, of
Portage la Prairie, publishes.
two Manitoba weeklies, the
McGregor Herald, (circula-
tion 1,000); and the Portage
Leader, (circulation 1,700).

Graphic and is one of a few in,
the weekly field who also has

ment.
MacKenzie was elected

tion's 59th Annual Conven-
tion su ceeding Ontario pub-
lisher Lynn. Lashbrook in

Bay, Ontario, MacKenzie
served with the Armed
Forces during World War II
before entering the news-

Prairie with. Vopni Press
Ltd. Starting in the
Advertising Department, he
worked himself up to Ad-
vertising Manager, then As-
sociate Publisher •and in 1970
became Editor and

publications.
The many phases of
community activities in
MacKenzie's past include
being Past President of The
Manitoba Community News-

my responsibilities as an
Editor," MacKenzie says of
fulfilling both duties. This,
together with his other com-
