HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Brussels Post, 1978-10-18, Page 7FRANK SKINNER Frank Skinner of Brussels, Ontario. Death occurred at his late residence on Monday October 9th, 1978 in his 79th year. He was born in Hove, Sussex,England, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas William Skinner. He farmed on the 12th concession of Maryborough until . 1966 when he retired to Brussels. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, Brussels. He is survived by his wife .the former Freeda Holborn,. one one daughter Mrs. Gerald. (Anne) Ryan of Walton, four grandchildren, one brother Reginald of Hamilton and two sisters Dorothy and Constance in England. He was predeceased by one sister and one brother. Funeral service was held Thursday October 12th at 11;30 a.m. from the M.L. Watts Funeral Home, Officiating clergy was Rev. Dan Sargent. Burial took place in Bethseda Cemetery, Maryborough Township. trimmed with lace and sequins, and carefully stored it, away. This week a reader Mrs. Martin MacDonald sent in the fol- lowing corrected inforpation of some of the past history. When Tuck's Hotel burned two stores and their attached dwellings also burned. These were directly west of the hotel where the Cranbrook Store and a white brick house now stand. The store and attached &yelling was built by Cranbrook Cranbrook VVMS will study China Anthony McDonald who kept store for several years. That is the store and house now in use. The two stores which burned with the hotel were owned by Ritchie's and Alexander McNair. After the fire Alexander McNair kept store in the downstairs. of the hall. He was also the post master. Mr. Leslie Perrie was 'guest preacher and music was provided by the choir and Jim 'Cox contributed two solos. The October meeting of the W.M.S. was held at the hdme of Mrs. Clare Veitch. Mrs. Wilfred Stickler opened the meeting with " Thoughts on the beauty of nature" followed by the ,Hymn "Come ye thankful people: come." and the Lord's prayer in unsion. "Praise my soul the King of. Heaven", was sung, and the: Thanks- giving Worship service from the Glad Tidings was used. Mrs. Strickler, Mrs. Earl Dunn and Mrs. Mac Engel took 'part. The topic on "Thanksgiving'" prepared by Mrs.Gco. Smith was read by Mrs. Stuart Stevenson. Mrs. John Vanass read the minutes and told of the new study on China. 'It was decided to order it. Mrs. Veitch gave the treasurer's report and cards and visits were recorded by Mrs. Stanley Fischer. The roll call was a verse on Thanksgiving. Mrs. Veitch, Mrs. Strickler and Mrs. Stevenson were a committee to plan for the • fireman's banquet on November 25th: The meeting Closed with singing "Softly now the light of day" and the Mizpah Benedication.
