REv. Ken lnnes of Brus- sels who is no stranger to' plowing having competed in many competioions before he was awarded a cheque for $50 for being the highest scoring plowman from Huron County . Mr. Innes originally learned to plow on his father's farm ,near Stratford but he started plowing com- petitively in Alberta in 1974. He also competes in many county matches and has been taking part in the IPM matches for the last three years. He has won the Huron championship for three years running. As well as' competing in the matches, Mr. Innes has also judged a few competitions. Edgar Howatt of R.R.1, Belgrave is another old hand at plowing. He should be. He's been competing since 1926 when he was 13 years old. He was the youngest plowman for a few years at the local plowing matches. At the IPM he placed seventh on Tuesday and Wednesday and eighth on Thursday and Friday in his class which was Class 1 group 1 - Jointer plows, horses, all ages. He's not certain how long S he's been competing at the IPM but it's been "quite a few years". He has competed at other county matches mostly in the Perth area. Mr. Howatt received about $120 .in prize money. Jim. Hallahan of R.R.1, Belgrave, who competed in Gass 11- Group 1 which was two furrow plows, mounted, Semi-mounted or trailer- tractor in the 1-14 age group walked away with $140 in prize money after placing sixth on Tuesday, •Wednes- day and Friday and seventh on Thursday. Jim. has been plowing for just five years. This was his first time competing at the IPM Previously he competed in the Huron County Plowing Match com- petition as part of an assign- ment to complete his 4-H project.
