Kelly of Brussels entertained with slides on a "Pilgrimage to the Holy Land". The Roll Call, the farthest you have been from , Cranbrook and something about it, was answered by 16 members and two guests. Following the Secretary's and Treasurer's reports Mrs. L. Knight discussed the Area Convention on Oct. 5th. Anyone interested in attending should contact Mrs. L. Knight or Mrs. Lefor. Quilts for the International Plowing Match are to be in by Sept, 18th between 9-10:30 a.m. A wreath will be purchased for Remembrance Day. The Institute's Correspondent Mrs. Mac Engel 887-6645 Eleven members gathered at the home of Mrs. Earl Dunn for the September meeting of the W.M.S. There were two visitors present. Mrs. Dunn opened the meeting with a reading "Autumn" and a prayer. Hymns sung were "The wise may bring their learning" and "Let us with a gladsome mind" with Mrs. Stewart Steiss at the piano. Romans 15, verses 1-15 were read in unison followed with a meditation. The topic stressing "Education and Books" were taken by Mrs. Leslie Knight and several passages from the Gospels were read by the group. A question and answer period followed. . President Mrs. Stuart Stevenson conducted the business. Mrs. Wilfred Strickler acted as secretary in the absence of Mrs. John Vanass. Members were reminded of Glad • Tidings subscriptions, The Fall executive in Knox Church, responsibilities for the International Plowing Match were discussed and attempts were made to find the required number of people to assist in the W.I. Display and ladies buildings. Mrs. Engel, Mrs. F. Smith; and Mrs. H. Smith volunteered to make 6 doz cookies each for the I.P.M. Mrs. Conley and Mrs. Lefor each volunteered to make 4 covered appEe pies for the banquet on Friday Sept. 29th. Mrs. Veitch, Mrs. L. Knight, and Mrs. Strickler were all going to try to attend the rally Monday, Oct. 2nd at the Londe'sboro Hall. Lunches will be pooled and tea will be provided. Town and Country Homemakers of Wingham asked members to collect Stratford on Tuesday October 10 at 1:30 and the Fall Rally on October 16 at Avonton at 10 a.m. and 1 p. m. Mrs. Clare Veitch gave the treasurer's report and Mrs. Stanley Fi 'r recorded 14 cards and 11 visits. Roll call was "learning" or tell of something you remembered from school days. The .magazine "Guidepost" and the book "Beyond 0 ur Alves" by Catherine Marshall were recommended for good reading.. It was decided to do a quilt before Christmas and not to have a bazaar this year owing to the many activities this fall. Lunch was served by Mrs. :Strickler, Mrs. Stevenson and the hostess. Personals • Mr. and Mrs. Clem Steffler have arrived home from three months spent in the Peace River District and with their son Clem and Mrs. Steffler and family. Mrs. Calvin Cameron was a patient in Wingham Hospital for several days last week. Kraft Miracle Whip and. Kraft Salad Dressing labels. Boxes for these labels should be in all grocery stores in Huron County. Huronview's Autumn. Tea is to be held Wed. Oct. 11 between 2 and 4 p.m. $10.00 will be donated towards the prizes for the Brussels Fall Fair. Mrs. Workman and Mrs. L. Knight volunteered to get a group display for the fair. Mrs. Lefor volunteered to set up. It was mentioned that members would be contacted regarding the car tour scheduled for the October meeting. The meeting closed with lunch served by Mrs. Engel Mrs. Conley and Mrs. Knight. David Engel, who has been in University Hospital, London, for over five weeks spent the weekend at his home here. He goes to Children's War Memoiral Hospital, London, on Monday for therapy. Miss Sandra Cameron, Barrie, spent the weekend at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rutledge, visited on Friday with Mrs. Mac Engel. Cranbrook 11 The first meeting of the Cranbrook 11 Club was held at Ellen Lefor's-house at 7:30 p.m. The election of officers took place. They are as follows: President-Susan Engel, Vice President-Valerie Brubacker. Secretary-rotating, Treasurer-Julie MacDonald, Press Reporter-Tracy Engel, Two members were absent. All members received their books. The discussion material was covered and all members participated in making Metric Crispy granola. The members enjoyed this and the meeting was closed with the 4-H motto. TENDERS will be received for Snowplowing in the Village of Brussels for the 1978-1979 season and will be accepted in the Municipal Office up to.
