OPP lay seven charges
During the week August
7-13 officers at the Wingham
OPP Detachment conducted
thirty-one investigations.
Seven charges were laid
under the Highway Traffic
Act and twenty-one warnings
were issued.
Thirteen charges were laid
under the Liquor Licence
Act.
Two charges were laid
uner the Criminal . Code.
During the week, there
were four motor vehcile
collisions which caused an
estimated $2,650 in property
damage and injuries to three
persons.
On Saturday, August 12,
Joyce V. Showers of Atwood
was involved in a single car
collision on county road#16,
east of county road 12, Grey
Township. Injured as a result
of the accident was Vicki L.
Showers, a passenger in the
vehicle.
On Sunday, August 13,
Larry E. Player of R.R.1,
Ethel and Glen H. Walker
R.R.3, Wingham were in-
volved in a collision

Ali well, you say as the paint goes on ever
so slowly, at least you won't have to do this
next year. Yeh, yourinner voice says, but
there'll be 10,000 other little things to do.
And they talk abput a woman's work never
being done!

Crash leaves boy in.

and Pat Engel is a patient in .
University Hospital, Lotidon,
following a collision with his
motor bike and a car on the
Cranbrook corner on
Thursday evening at 6:30.
Melvin. M. Joder of R.R.1,
Gambier, Ohio was charged
with careless driving as a
result of the collision.
David was travelling west
on Con. 12 when a car going.
north collided with his bike,
He was removed by
ambulance to Wingham
Hospital and later that night
was transferred to University
Hospital, London.
At time of writing Monday
he has not regained con-
sciousness and remains in
serious condition.

Jack Vanass of Derene,
Holland, spent the weekend

left for a motor trip through

The Cranbrook W.I. held
their picnic on Sunday after-
noon at the Atwood Park. A
program of games was fol-
lowed _by a picnic supper.
Quite a number also enjoyed
a dip in the pool.
Leslie Perrie will conduct
the service in Knox Church
next Sunday, August 20 at
9:45 a.m.
Visiting Mr, and Mrs, Don
Cotton recently were Miss
Kim Starr, Markdale' and -
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice
Newton of Shelbourne. Fol-
lowing a weeks visit here Mr.
and. Mrs. Cotton took Kim
h&me and visited for a few
days.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brown,
Galt, and Mrs. Howard Wil-
liams, San Francisco, were
recent visitors with Mrs.
Calvin Cameron.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Engel spent the past week
camping near Bayfield.
We are pleased to report
that Mrs. Fred Smith was
able to come home from
Victoria Hospital, London,
last week.

end.
Three representatives of R and R
Enterprises of Wingham were at the August
2 Meeting of the Brussels Business
Association (BBA) to discuss setting up a
concert and a dance Or just a concert in the
Brussels arena as promotion for the town
service clubs or the local businessmen.
These Men were responsible for a
Blue ass Music Festival last
the bands,
lighting, sound and Stage for the concerts
that they set up, BBA Members decided
they were too busy With the plowing match
and other activities and put a decision on a
concert off until the spring. '
Street signs and poles from North •
Turnberry Street to the end of town have
been ordered at a cost of $900. The village is
to install the signs.
Nine businesses have paid for their signs
for the float for the fall fair parade. Several
ideas were suggested on a theme.
In other bUsiness'i blue and white crest
for the BBA WaS suggested for 1079. Fees
are $15 till the end of this year and after
January 1979 will be $18.
