People we know
slow down! Although it is about a
small town in Alberta, the play
could easily take place in any
small village here in Ontario. It
tells the *story of a town that is no
longer serviced by bus, train or
plane because it is two miles off
the main highway, and as a
result, has stopped growing. But
the hopes and dreams of the
people continue to flourish, and
their pride in their home makes
them determined to see it
continue to get bigger and better.
Two Miles 'Off is a story for
Ireland, Wales and Scotland.
They were accompanied by 25
others from Seaforth, Clinton,
Mitchell and Monkton areas.
After taking several tours of
London, an extensive bus tour
began that included a visit to
prehistoric stone hedge, scenic
Wales, a ferry trip across the Irish
Sea to Southern Ireland, Blarney
Castle, Kerry Mountains,
Jitney Results at the Brussels
Lawn Bowling Club' on Monday,

jaunting cart ride on the shores of

Long to be remembered, was
an evening in 'Jury's Cabaret in
Dublin. As the tour progressed
through historic areas and quaint
countryside from Ireland to the
highlands of Scotland, some were
able to identify areas from which
their ancestors had come
Mystery show revealed

spent a few day last week with her
cousin Elsie Evans, Buissels.

returned from a most enjoyable
three week tour of England,
The artistic staff at the Blyth
Summer Festival has solved the
mystery of the fifth show. The
perfect play has been found to
end the fourth season, a family
comedy and musical. TWO
MILES OFF will open on August
23 at 8:30 p.m., and will play each
night from August 28th to
September 2nd. •
Two Miles Off is written by an
onton group known as
Theatre Network, and is a light-
hearted and tuneful tribute to the
people of a small village, where
the train doesn't stop, but it does

Streetsville spent the holiday
weekend with his mother, Mrs.
Gertie Bennett. They were all
supper guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Rick Rutledge and family near
Clinton on the Sunday.
Church services at Duff's
United Church will resume on
August 13. The minister is on
holidays for the next month.
An executive meeting of the
Walton Women's Institute will be
held instead of the July meeting
next Wednesday afternoon at the
home of the secretary-treasurer
Mrs. Jim Axtmann.
Mrs. Viola Kirkby spent the
weekend at her cottage at Point
Clark.
