Knight presiding. The girls from the Cranbrook II 4-H Club performed an enter- taining replay of the skit they did for their Achievement Day. Record books from both of the Cranbrook 4-H Clubs were on display for the evening. Mrs. L. Knight thanked Mrs. Workman for the flower arrange- ment she had done for the Ethel W.I. 75th Anniversary. Mrs. Veitch gave a report from District Annual. Mrs. Van Donkersgoed - reported that the July meeting would be to the play "Huron Tiger" at the Blyth Summer Festival on July 13th: Money for the tickets should be taken to either Mrs. Van Donkersgoed or Mrs. Oscar Huehn, the former Iona Steiss died suddenly on Thursday, June 8 at her home in Conestoga in her 80th year. Besides her husband ' she is survived by two sons, Stewart of Elmira and Donald of London and Mrs. Chas. Terpstra before July 6th to get tickets at discount price of $2.00 each. Mrs. Hart and Mrs. Strickler volunteered to assist Mrs. Conley with arrangenients for a W.I. Family Picnic in August. It was brought to the attention of the Institute that the Institute signs at Cranbrook needed to be repaired and or. repainted. On •motion of Mrs. Van. Donkersgoed and Mrs. F. Smith, it was agreed that Mrs. Conley and Mrs. Baker go ahead and have the signs repaired. Mrs. L. Knight read a letter regarding the plowing match which will be dealt with at a later meeting. The History Kit and the two house logs, WS. Conley's and Mrs. Engel's entered into five grandchildren, also 4 sisters (Orma) Mrs. J. Wilson, Listowel) (Lola) Mrs. Arthur Nicholls, Atwood (Lydia) Mrs. Calvin Cameron and Miss Emylene Steiss of Cranbrook. She was competition at the District Annual and were, selected, to go on to the next level of competition. Mrs. Strickler convened the remainder of the meeting when Mrs.Engel gave the 'Smiles'. The roll call "A hobby for a farmer , was answered by 16 members and 9 guests., Mrs. Strickler gave a 'reading from a public school and one from H. Gordon Green on farming. Mrs. Veitch introduced the guest speaker Mr. Ross Procter who showed a few minutes of slides and followed them with an interesting talk on modern farming. Mrs. Hart thanked Mr. Procter and presented him with a gift.. Lunch was served by Mrs. H. Smith, Mrs. Lefor, Mrs. L. The first prize Senior Yearling shown by. the Estate of John `F. Franken, Auburn was named Junior Champion. Frankhaven. Royal Blossom sired by Frank- haven Royal Emperor, stiowed more balance and more correct- ness at the shoulder and stronger loin to place over the second prize Senior Yearling and. Reserve Junior Champion. Eckerlea Star- lite Gerry was shown by Conrad Eckert, Seaforth. Two other con- tenders for the Junior Champion Award were owned by Eckert. They were the first prize Heifer Calf, Eckerlea Starlit Sally and the first prize Junior Yearling, Eckerlea Classic Zibida-Alt. Heading the Bull Calf class was a son of No Na-Me i Fond Matt, Rayel Fond Torance exhibited ,)eiy Allan Wylie, Clifford and Murray Howick, Blyth. •The stylish two-year-old showing a high, wide udder was the entry of Kenneth J. Ramsey, Blyth on a Downalane Century Ensign duaghter, Kennairn Pre- cous Ensign. The Unfreshened Female class was won by Henry J. Franken, Auburn on his, Quality Ultimate entry. Wellmar Ultimate Beryl-Alt. The Best Udder class also went to Ramsey. Valleycreek ChieftainStella sired by Elmcroft Pontiac Cheiftain, was the fourth prize Aged Cow. Robert W. Carter of Bobnan Farms, Blyth was declared the Premier Exhibitor after scoring a number of points in the individual classes. The number of animals shown in each class are as follows: Bull Calf - 2; Heifer Calf-7; ,JuniOr Yearling-6; Senior Yearlin-10; Dry Cow-6; Two-Year-Old-10; Unfreshended Female-5; Three- Year-Old-10; Four-Year-Old-10; Five Years and Up-8; Breeder's Herd-5; Best Udder-3. The Huron County Holstein Show was held at Clinton Spring Fair on June 2. Judge Doug Wingrove of Allangrove Farms, Campbellville favorably placed under rainy skies 74 head for 18 `exhibitors. The Grand. Champion Cow was the first prize four-year old show by .` Ellwood A. Seili, Ethel. Morwill Marquis June sired by • Agro Acres Marquis Ned, was very tall and long to place over the first prize Aged Cow and Reserve Grand ' Champion, Kipferlea Dan Cindy. This daughter of Vinedale Perseus Dan, also very tall and strong walking uphill, was exhibited by David Dalzell, Clinton. The owner of 'the Grand Champion Cow, Ellwood A. Seili also exhibited the first prize Dry Cow sired by Agro Acres Never Fear, Erbdale Fear Alfa. The Premier Breeder of the Show was Fred C. Vodden of . Hol-Den Farms, Clinton. The first prize 'Chieftain' three-year-old, Hol-Den Chieftain Princess, Correspondent Mrs. Mic Engel 887-6645 David Holmes, probation officer for Perth County conducted the service in Knox Church on Sunday morning. predeceased by a brother, Alex , and an infant sister. Mrs. Emma McCollum, St. Thomas, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Lylle Gordon. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wharton, London, were calling in the community on Saturday.. Mr. and Mrs. Carman Fischer, Rexdale, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fischer. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Strickler attended the Strickler reunion held in the park at Stratford on Sunday afternoon.
