The first of the summer's 'and the following wpicend, on Highland events are the Speyside July 15, the town of Burlington Highland Games, held on June 10 will hold their Highland Games. in Georgetown. On the Dominion Day weekend there will be two games; the Zorra Highland Games in Embro and the Cobourg Highland Games, held in Cobourg. On July 8, the town of Brantford will host their games The games move northward with the Huntsville Highland Games held on July 22 and the 'Sudbury Highland Games taking place the following day. On August 7, the Dutton Highland Games will be held, followed by the Fergus games on August 12. One of the popular attractions of the Canadian National Ex- hibition this year will be the inter-continental pipe bands which are entertaining on August 20. The final two games of the season are the GuelphHighland Games held in Guelph on August 26 and the Windsor Highland Games on September 2. The contest, which is sponsored by public libraries in the Midwestern regional library • system, is open to all library patrons in the region of Waterloo as well as in Perth, Huron and Wellington counties. While the ' contest officially opened at the first of the month, entries can be received no later than October 2 to be eligible for judging. The literary award is given in honor of the former chief librarian of the Kitchener public library. In 1977, there were more than 1,000 entries in the prose and poetry categories. The regional library . will be inviting two noted Canadian authors to judge the contest results and present the awards at Cambridge Public Library on Nov. 24.
