Highlighting the May Agricul-
tural meeting of the Beigrave
Women's Institute was a speech
by Mrs. Lyle Gordon; , of
Cranbrook. Mrs. Gordon as
retired schoolteacher has been
managing a large broiler business
since her husband's death. She
has 30,000 broilers at all times,
and the birds are kept for
approximately seven weeks or
until they weigh between 3-5-4
lbs.
Mrs. William Fenton convenor
for the meeting program
discussed the motto, Farm for
Sale-Farm for Rent, emphasizing
the value of the family farm in the
community. Mrs. Fejnton also
read a very timely poem, Do you
know your neighbour?
Sheila andj DOreen Anderson
played selections from the Sound
of Music in a piano duet.
The president, Mrs. Leonard
James conducted the business.
Invitations were extended to the
1-luronview Blossom Tea on May
31 and to the Wingham Women's
Institutes 75th anniversary on
June 15.
A moment of silence was
observed in,memory of the , late
Mrs. Herb Wheeler, who for
many years 'was an active
member of the Belgrave Institute.
The Belgrave Institute will be
catering to the East Wawanosh
School graduation on June 27
with the committee of Mrs.1
William Fenton and +Mrs. Ross
Taylor in charge. Cost of catered
meals was discussed and a new
list of meal prices was agreed
upon for the coming year.
The Beigrave Presbyterian
church is to be approached to look
after the cemetery service in July.
The Institute decided to donate
$25.00 for new toys for the
Wingham Hospital.
Mrs. Glenn .Coultes reported on
the upcoming bus trip on June 14
to Dundurn Castle, Marineland
and Niagara Falls. Anyone
interested is urged to contact
Mrs. Coultes as soon as possible.
A delegation from the
Beigrave Kinsmen discussed with
the; ladies the possibility of
enlarging facilities for community
dances within the village.
The meeting closed with lunch
served by the committee of Mrs.

Descendents Meet
About '50 descendents of the
late John McCrea and Mary
Birney met at the home of Mrs.
Lawrence Vannan on Sunday
afternoon. ,All gathered at the
McCrea cemetery • which is
situated on the farm now owned
by Sam Pletch.
The great grandparents Mr. andi
Mrs. John McCrea who came
from Ireland to Canada in 1844
settled on this same farm.
Those were present from
California, Michigan, Sault Stie.
Marie, Toronto, Blyth, Wingham,
Bluevale and Belgrave.
Hold Anniversary Services
Calvin-brick congregation held
its anniversary service on Sunday Special music was provided by
May 21, with the Rev. Robert the Mari Belle Singers of Belmore
Johnstone of Ancaster as guest under the leadership , of Mrs.
minister. His message on Marie Douglas.
"Seeking God" was much Miss Evelyn
appreciated. Dickson was choir accompanist.
Information wanted on
1912 paper hangers
While renovating her house in
Brussels, Mrs. Jeanne Ireland
came across a reminder of more
than sixty years ago when the
wallpaper was 'removed there
appeared on the wall the signa-
ture of "Walter D. Miller,
Contractor and Paper Hanger,
1912,"
Beside this signature was
Mrs, Winona Thompson at the
piano and. Jim Robertson at the
organ accompanied 'the congre-
gational singing and provided
music before the service. '
