The next question asked of the
residents was about the use of
scattered lots, both vacant and
occupied lots of 25 to 50 acres.
Mr. Renfold said that the
suggeStions at previous meeting
were that those lots be used for
hobby farming, or part-time
farming or retiring farmers, He
-asked whether there were any
other extension to those uses or
whether those uses were con-
sidered feasible,
Mr. Penfold pointed out that 50
acre parcels of land might be
considered too small for viable
farm operation. He said if they
were left in agriculture their
future could be agricultural with
intensive livestock operation or as
part of a larger farming 'operation.
"I don't think that as farmers
we should be restricting ourselves
to put protection on ourselves.
Why don't we start standing up
for our rights?" Turnberry Town-
ship councillor Brian MeBurney
said in regard to severances.
Retirement
Bev Brown told the residents
that they should look to the point
of their retirement if they were

farmers had been squeezed out
by ribbon development, She said
they were now in a position where
they couldn't ..expand and stay
viable.
Another 'woman pointed out
that sometimes the government
comes in and buys up. agricultural
land for floodland. Mrs. ['enfold
said that what the province has to.
do is demonstrate that particular.

good.
Mrs.-John Wray said, there was
just no definition of agriculture
that would stand up in a court of
law. She pointed out that they're
still trying. to come up with a
definition of pornography.
"The only difference between
agriculture an.d pornography is
that pornbgraphy Is good
business," one man commented.
Members of the R ural Outreach

Cancer! Is there anyone who
does not dread that word when
they go to their doctor for a
checkup? If you have. had a family
member, or close friend, who
suffered with it, you will know
how terrible it can be. But, cancer
can be beaten. With early
detection and treatment, it. can be
cured. There are former victims
alive today to testify to that.
When a canvasser calls at your

can be certain that we will not be
a victim of cancer.
